Anyone going to the USGP?
Who's going to do a "photoshop" of an ITR towing a huge bloodly great caravan??? I'd like to see that........ hehe.
Lucky buggers, Just go what-ever it takes. Definetly no money limit & Cars you can FEEL..... you gotta love that.
I'm trying to get tickets right now to the Aussie round of the GP Bikes. Our last chance to see the 500 2-Stroke's go around. At 1 of our best track here in Australia, Phillip Island in Victoria.
Later - Enjoy.

Try hotels near the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.(1.5 to 2hrs away from Indy) Thats what I did last year, but the hotels were full because of a home football game. This year there will be no home football game.
The wife and I are going! We bought our tickets the day after last years race, and made our hotel reservations with in a month of last years race also! I'd let you stay with us but the wife isn't down with threesomes!
Good luck with the hotels! Can't wait for the race!

just curious, what hotel are you all staying at and how much are you paying? I remember Nov. last year I called for this years race, an Econolodge was charging $240/night!!!! ECONOLODGE!!!!!
Me and the wife are going! We made our hotel reservations last January, and the closest to Indy we could get was Terre Haute. I'd rather drive 80 miles and have more $ to spend at the track then be in the city with less $....

Hell yeah Im going! Me and 5 friends are making the trek up. We also renewed our tickets and hotel reservations right after last years race, although the hotel room went from $90/night to $150/night, and this is a HJ Express, about 25 miles south of Indy.
I simply cannot wait to go! I feel like leaving right now and camping out in front of the gate!
Anyone who is even *thinking* of going, just GO! You will not regret it. The sound, all the people, the atmosphere, did I mention *THE SOUND*???? 22 cars revving at 17,000rpm+...gotta love it!

I'd love to go! I'm off for that week as I was planning on driving down to the NIRA Race and hang out here and there in Florida beforehand. Since I have noone to go to FL. with, I rather not drive alone. A 12 hour drive by yourself is too boring!! If anyone knows of hotel arrangements that have room, let me know. Tickets aren't sold out and there are plenty of tickets on eBay. I'd love to have a TYPE-R meet @ INDY!!!

Yep, can't wait. Myself, my father and a couple of his friends are driving to Indy from Long Island, NY. I'm leaving the R at home though...space is too cramped for 4 people!
Yep........I think I might be leaving the R at home too. Probably trade my aunt for her Accord Coupe. Not only do I have the long drive there, but the closest reasonable hotel I found was in Dayton.....~120 miles from the track.
I will be there all 3 days (Fri/Sat/Sun) along with several friends. I went last year (all 3 days) and had a great time. Yes, it will be nearly impossible to find a hotel room within a 100 mile radius of Indy. Luckly we were able to get the same hotel as we had last year. The only bad thing is that the hotels are charging about twice the price as they normally would. We are staying at a Days Inn (I think) that is only about 5-10 miles south of the track, but there is 4 of us staying in the room so we can share in the cost.
The only bad thing about staying in Dayton (other than the distance) is that you will need to take I-70 to get to Indy and they are doing construction near the Ohio/Indiana border and this will delay you. My parents live in Dayton and my father went to Indy on Saturday and it took him 45 minutes to get through the construction. You may want to check on hotels in Cincinnati. Another option would be to check into bed&breakfasts in and around the Indy area.

Oh man, there is a lot of talk on the F1 sites today indicating the USGP may be in jeopardy due to the terrorist attack and all the problems the teams face getting their equipment into the States (among other problems). At this point the race is still scheduled to run as planned.

Guys, looks like there are a lot of cancellations so anyone with outrageous hotel room prices, try another hotel. I just got my room for $110 for a double bed. No need to pay over $150 or even have to drive a long distance. I'm 35 miles from the track.
