Default What would my car be worth?

I've been toying with selling my car to save up for something different.

What would it be worth? Would it be sellable?

97 GS-R with 8psi JRSC with tons of stuff on it. NOT ricey at all, all performance mods. Exhaust loud, but the car is quick. Clean 55k miles, 15k on the blower.

First: what's the blue book value(personal sell) not trade in. In this example let's say $15K . Second get all your recipts out(JRSC+bolt ons etc) add them up them.Whatever that number is take between 40 and 50% off. It's not science but it will give you an idea. So
car=15
add ons= 6k-3k
total=18k

If I was you, I'd make the car complete stock again before you sell it. Most people don't like fixed up cars...either they don't trust you, or want to fix it up themselves.

Go to edmunds.com and check for the value of your car. Then, adding about half of what you totally spend on your car, aftermarket parts, would be the total.
That's what I heard.

Or put it up on ebay. :D
But IMO, stock is the way to go.

Yeah, I'd probaby sell your mods separately and bring the car back to stock condition. People may think your car was run hard cause it has performance mods on it. There are however, a few people that want to buy a pre-modded car...most likely far from the amount that want to buy a stock car.

your car will not cost a penny more than what the blue book tells you. you can have all the mods and fancy paint job money can buy but if the blue book tells you that youre car is worth $10,000 then its worth $10,000. you can try selling it for any price you want but techincally its not worth how much the book tells you its worth. http://www.kbb.com check out the bule book vale there.

There is a point where the cost associated with pulling the car back to stock is GREATER than difference anyway. For example:

Pull the JRSC and electronics would cost me 4 days labor (My time).
Pull the exhaust header and cat would cost 5 hours + replacement parts.
I could put the suspension back to stock, but the stock suspension sucks.

So blue book is $13,450. There is $10k in mods, but there's no way I'd see that. So I'd say if I could sell it for $16K, I'd be very happy. Possible?

Also, clearly I limit my market by leaving the performance parts on... this I know.

you might see the money you want for the car if someone is uneducated on car prices. but you can take off the add ons and sell it seperatly and get that extra 10K you worked on the car.

yea i think you can get atleast 16k for it, but it'll take sometime, i could be wrong.

Good lucky.

I totally sympathize.

After installing the JRSC, Id TOTALLY be reluctant to uninstall it to sell the car. Its just not worth the extra cash for all the hassle of returning the car to stock. Maybe with I/H/E, but not all this ****.

Id say 16k...and give it some time on the net and in autotrader and I guarantee it will sell. Like I said on HB, its all bout that 17yr old with his parents checkbook whos looking to buy the fastest car on the block. You may be hesitant to hand over the keys, but those people are out there.

the dealer gave me 12,000 for my 97 gsr/red. only modified on th eoutside. everything else was removed. so i know the bluebook vale on a MINT 97 gsr is roughly 13000
