Sedan exhaust on a hatch?
I found plenty of topics about putting a hatch exhaust on a CRX, but nothing on putting a 4-door exhaust on a hatch.
Has anyone tried putting a cat-back that was originally designed for a 88-91 4-door onto a 91 hatch? if so, how much pipe and from where will I need to cut off, if any?

honestly its no more that about 2 ft of pipe if that and you can chop right from the middle would be easiest cause if i'm not mistaken the axle-back exhaust section is almost identical...
hmmm that reminds me..i'm selling my complete 88-91 Sedan 4 door exhaust..check it out!!

The axle back section is the same as HB's other than the piping outlet i.e. the pipe from the muffler to the tip. That will be too long but you can cut it down and reweld the tip. Im unsure about the section from the cat to the axle.
Thanks for the replies guys.
In case someone finds this post in a search later on, here's what I came up with....
The Intermediate is identical between the hatch and sedan, as is the axle-back except the length of the tail pipe.
"It just sticks out a little"
Accually, I'm not a big tip fan anyway. My plan is to just hack the pipes off and put some regular tips over the end.
Ahh, the famous ST swaybar issue! Only I always heard that it was the "over the axle" pipe that had clearance problems... my problem is that the muffler itself is too wide and hits the bar. Once the car is set on the ground, it's not as bad, but it still rubs. My solution is to put some spacers in between the intermediate pipe and the axle-back and then re-mount the hangars on the axle-back. this will move the whole works back which will mean I'll need to hack even more length off of the tips.
In case anyone's wondering, this system is the Brosal "Brospeed" cat-back system. The pipes are 2" mandrel bend. Not the 2 1/4 that I was hoping for, but at $189.95 shipped for the whole system brand new, I figured it's better than what was on there!

So what you're saying is that the bends are in the same places, except the pipe AFTER the muffler?

Yep.
The bends are in the right places after the muffler too, it's just the length after the bends is too long.

yes, the pic you see is with the exhaust all bolted in w/ no modifications. Even the hangers line up perfectly.

according to other threads on this site, the CRX axle back is the same as the hatch and the mid-pipe is apx 7" shorter on the rex.

i will agree, that the 88-91 crx and civic hatback follow the same bends and systems.. minor cutting will be needed, like mentioned.. maybe a few inches

Ebay... It was some shop's display model, so it was a "one only" sort of thing.

also remember that on the sedan and civics.. the stock muffler actually has an inlet up and on the top, while the crx and hatchback is more in hte middle.. so this puts a nasty tilt on it, if you dont know how to adjust and cut it right..
