just ordered my 17x7.5 wedsport sa90s for my rsx...recommended tire size for 17x7 is 215/45...should i stay 215/45 or step up to a 225/45 size tire??
btw...the tire of choice will probably be falken azenis st-115 (this is not the road-race type azenis)
need honda-tech input!!!
thanks

I went with Bridgestone Potenza S02 225/45/17 with my JDM 17s.... The fit is quite tight but it still fitted in the wheel arch....
The 225/45/17 is closer to the stock 205/55/16 (from memory something like 0.3% under compared to 1.0% oversize with 215/45/17)
hope this helps

I'd run the 225's...Thats what most of the aftermarket wheel manufacturers are recommending. Please post some pics and or a link to some pics, I want to see them.
Also where can a guy get some Wedsport wheel. New of course

225/45/17 will have the closest to stock total outer diameter. Plus, a 225 will fit nicely on your 7.5" width wheel. I'm runing on a 225/45/17 tire right now on my 7.5" width wheel for my RSX.
Here's a link to the miata tire size calculator:

An easy way to calculate tire sizes is to multiply the aspect ratio by the tire width to get the sidewall height (i.e. multiply 225 by .45) and compare that to stock size if you're running the same radius rim. You then multiply the difference between the two sidewall heights by 2 (you've got tire above and below the rim). If you're trying to compare two different sized rims and tires, you do almost the same thing. 2 times the sidewall height and add in the rim diameter (i.e. 17inches x 25.4 to get to millimeters). THEN compare the heights of the two. This will get you really close to the actual tire heights.
Another thing to keep in mind when you're looking at manufacturer's sites is that you need to compare UNLOADED heights to see how much your speedo will be affected. The loaded height only tells you how much ground clearance you'll gain or lose.

Yeah, but you don't always have access to the internet. You always have access to math.

Yeah, and everyone thought that they'd never use that geometry class in real life...

my WRX came stock with 205/55/16 and moving up to 225/45/17 maitained damn near the same rolling diameter and made ahuge difference in ride. id say go to the 225...why would you take the ST-115 over the RT-215? Had you also considered the Wanli 1099 aka Yoko AVS Sport copycat tire? that size is like $80 shipped whereas either Falken is at best $100+
