Help with oil leak?
My engine is the stock D16 in a 90 EF. There's oil underneath the distributor on the top of the transmission and on all the wires underneath the distributor. I did the vavle cover about a week ago so the leak is not from there. I have the O-ring for the distributor, but I was thinking maybe it was coming from the wires underneath the distributor. Are those wires for an oil pressure switch, and is there any chance they could cause the leakage around where they enter the block?
i'm in the same boat you are i'm having that same problem but i replaced everything you did. guess what the bitch is still leaking i dont know where its comming from. i'd like to know too so if anybody has an idea please send it our way. thanks
try your head gasket, i know i know thats a lot of work.....and it might not even be the problem...only other solution i've got is the Vtec sileniod.......and that only works if you have Vtec......do you?
Change the dist. O ring. I had the exact same problem with my old A6 and it leaked oil all over the place. Degrease it all first then change the ring and see if it still leaks. I bet it wont...
i've replaced the dist. o-ring and it still leaks i'm running out of ideas. all i know is that it gets really annoying that i have to feed my car oil like every other day, and its leaving oil spill stains in my driveway

The way u wrote your first post said that u had the O ring, not that u replaced it. Must be that head gasket or the small single wire sensor screwed into the head thats under the dist. That one may be an oil press. sensor for the ECU. Im not sure though...
edit: It may be coming from the cam cap. Did u do a cam swap lately?

If you already replaced the distributor oring- you may have piched it when installing it. I thought the one wire sensor under the distributor was a temp sender for the coolant. Everyone says its on the tstat housing, but I've been all over mine and there is no sensor on the thermostat.
no the o-ring wasnt pinched i double checked it is fine but it still leaks. is there any o-ring or gasked on the back of the block where the black box the oil cooler i believe it is? could it leak from there?
Even though you replaced the o-ring, just humor us and take the cap off the dizzy. If there's oil inside it, you know what the problem is. Plus it'll only take about 3 minutes and a phillips screwdriver...
