Default Help with oil leak?

My engine is the stock D16 in a 90 EF. There's oil underneath the distributor on the top of the transmission and on all the wires underneath the distributor. I did the vavle cover about a week ago so the leak is not from there. I have the O-ring for the distributor, but I was thinking maybe it was coming from the wires underneath the distributor. Are those wires for an oil pressure switch, and is there any chance they could cause the leakage around where they enter the block?

try your head gasket, i know i know thats a lot of work.....and it might not even be the problem...only other solution i've got is the Vtec sileniod.......and that only works if you have Vtec......do you?

No, I don't have vtec, the engine is 100% stock.

Does anyone know what the mass of wires under the distributor is?

Change the dist. O ring. I had the exact same problem with my old A6 and it leaked oil all over the place. Degrease it all first then change the ring and see if it still leaks. I bet it wont...

The way u wrote your first post said that u had the O ring, not that u replaced it. Must be that head gasket or the small single wire sensor screwed into the head thats under the dist. That one may be an oil press. sensor for the ECU. Im not sure though...

edit: It may be coming from the cam cap. Did u do a cam swap lately?

If you already replaced the distributor oring- you may have piched it when installing it. I thought the one wire sensor under the distributor was a temp sender for the coolant. Everyone says its on the tstat housing, but I've been all over mine and there is no sensor on the thermostat.

Even though you replaced the o-ring, just humor us and take the cap off the dizzy. If there's oil inside it, you know what the problem is. Plus it'll only take about 3 minutes and a phillips screwdriver...
