Default Yellow headlamps, I'm turning into a ricer!

So, I have a yellow car...

I've always liked the porsche GT2 cars with yellow headlamps (in certain classes/sanctioning bodies, apparently, they have to run yellow headlamps and certain coloured numbers)...

anyways, I can't seem to find a very bright yellow 9006 bulb. I've found the ion/rainbow look, that was really crap. I got a set of bulbs that have a yellow tint to the glass, those just look like old headlamps where the bulb is dying.

I can't seem to find a bright yellow bulb. It'd probably help if maybe the bulbs were higher wattage... but, 55w seems to be the max.

If you cant find the bulbs, you could always make it LOOK yellow. Go to a junkyard or pickapart and find an old Acura Legend. The foglights have glass yellow caps inside them to give them that yellow look. Rig those over your regular bulbs and it'll make it yellow. I was going to do that on my highbeams on my CRX, but i crashed it so i scrapped that idea.

take headlight out / set on ground / buy yellow stained glass paint / spray headlight / put back in / if you don't like / rub spray paint off with thinner.

Will not hurt the glass, me and a friend did this and it looks good, but after a while it gets old, I don't know if it's legal or not. better watch for cops.

i've thought about painting the headlamps.

I'm trying to go for the "doesn't look yellow" until i turn the lamps on.

oh well. I'll probably do the foglamp thing.

I feel you on this one. Love the yellow GT3 headlights. I had some Bosch Mercedes headlights in my Datsun 510 years ago.

Maybe try these. http://www.nissei-polarg.co.jp/lineup/bulb/yellow.html, http://store.yahoo.com/racinglab/po90puyesube.html. Or try some yellow H3 fog light bulbs. How do motorcycles do it? I think the GT cars do paint their lights.

i've been on ebay all week looking..

i have a feeling those are just as crap as the ones i have.

Lamin-X is also something that makes the headlamps always yellow, however, it is good for racing if a rock cracks the headlamp, it doesn't shatter everywhere.

remember, low beams are 9006, not h4/h3. i don't think there's a way to convert them either...

unless .evil laughter.

I used the bulbs from Auto Indulgence out in Lomita, CA. They're called "Max Gold".

As for legality of said bulbs....just check your local laws. For CAians as per V.C. 25950 states that any light emitted from the front shall be either white or yellow. So that means you ********* using the REALLY CRAPPY LIGHT emitted from BLUE bulbs are running illegal colored bulbs...not to mention THEY SUCK and it's been proven. Read here: http://wherearemypants.com/rag...k.htm

Anyway I'm running the Max Gold's in my highs, used to have them in all three [low, high and fogs(Osram All Seasons)] in my Mk3 Jetta.

What if you replace your headlights with EDM ZC headlights ?
They use 55W H4 for low beam and H1 for high beam.

Yellow bulbs for H4 are pretty common here in Norway at least , better suited for driving in heavy fog.

I like how the yellow light contrasts objects more...

To run JDM or EDM headlights I do believe EF owners have to replace the hood, both fenders, rad support among a host of other stuff....but I'm not positive.

Are you thinking of the SiR (VT) front end conversion ? Those headlights are very different from USDM.
However the headlights on the EDM ED9 CRX look pretty identical to the USDM CRX headlights.

Piaa makes yellow headlights.. Also you can put the headlights in the oven and pop them open, then take some plexiglass cleaner, 2000 grit sand paper and clean it both sides. Then take krylon stained glass spray paint and spray the inside of the lens cover yellow in thin coats... Then reinstall them and then put a new bead of silicone around the lights and put them on the car
