Default Availability of good 1997 ITRs.

What's the going rate for a good (ie non-salvaged, no accident, no body work) 97 ITR?

I had a 1997 ITR for three days but had to return it because the bank would not finance a salvaged car. That ITR had 2000 ITR wheels and drivetrain and 2000 GSR interior. Let's just say I'm glad I had to give it back.

I found one in Texas that had less than 1000 miles and was garaged and practically never driven but the owner (the guy from Endyne) wanted at least $20,000 for it.

The 97s I've seen for sale are either salvaged (theft recoveries) or the owners didn't take good care of them (bodywork such as CL headlights or MR2 side vents or Prelude taillights). It seems as time passes the 97s are harder to find in California.

Anyone know of a good one for sale?

I bought a 97 from Texas about a month ago. Its in decent condition, but it was in an accident. It was bone stock when i got it. Over all i'm pretty happy w/ it. Interior is a little worn and one cylinder is giving me some worries, but its still a 97. A little time and money will bring it back to factory spec.

At the rate that 97s disappear, get smashed, and loose track of I would ****** the first clean one right away. The price you pay now is the price you will or should be able to get back 10-20 years from now with no problem )-
Just remember Few to start with and even fewer years to come.

Pic a nice one up and guard it with your life, even know its team CW its still an R.

the availabilty of any year itr, especially "good" ones as you say will obviously diminish as time passes. stock ones or even lightly modified ones will be even more rare as this is a kind of car that attracts enthusiasts like most here who want to improve its performance to their own own unique needs.

add the fact that we have an itr stolen or totaled every say, 3 seconds, the odds of the breed surviving look bleak

I picked up *one* of Larry's R's...only had 29miles @the time. His other car that he was selling was built I believe.

The acura stickers are now in a frame in my room

It most definatley is, I'm very very fortunate to have acquired it..

It's almost like I went back in time to 96 and picked it up from the dealer.

To Larry for having enough self control to *not* drive it.

I take it you won't sell it anytime soon! Damn, if I didn't have my trial at that time I would've had the money for it. Lawyers are expensive.

Acura released information that only 318 ITR's were released for the 1997 model year. Considering the number that were used for race cars, stolen, wrecked, and are in collections, etc. I expect the number of clean and available 97 R's to be almost nothing. In time I believe that even a salvage or theft recovery will have substantial value simply due to the fact that so few were made and even fewer now exist.

Ditto, but why do I still think about selling my '97?

I picked mine up from a middle aged man who bought it from his brother because he couldnt afford the insurance with all the tickets. It was just sitting, perfect in and out. I suggest having lots of patience, thats what I relied on, and it payed off.

Exactly! I looked for over 2 years for 97' unmolested ITR's.

I finally found one a little over a year ago and I got an incredible deal.

I paid $15k for my stock untracked unmolested 97' w/ 36,000 miles

I must have been really lucky. I just desided to get an R one day. I didn't care what year it was, just called the owner of the closest one I found. It just happend to be a 97 with Mugen Suspension, and a Comptech IB. Thing was stock except for thoes things. Perfect body and only 30,000 miles. This was about a year and a half ago.

i'm in love

i plan on picking up a 97 ITR within a couple years and LEAVING it unmolested in my garage.....as my "collector" car....i guarantee the car's value will skyrocket after this whole "motec exhaust and NAWWWWWZ-fest" fad dies out 10 years from now....

Mine was the first one I looked at also. In fact the owner lived with in walking distance of apt at school. He never drove it, which explains why I never saw it Paid 17500 with 30xxx miles and the rear seats still had plastic on them. Now its sittin in my garage with the motor apart
