Ok i no i no MPFI QUESTIONS this should bet he offcial thread
OK i have a 89 honda civic hatch and i have a standard motor u no the one some of u guys laff at well i have a carb problem which is causing my car to bog out when i hit the gas slightly or floor it in any gear so i was gonna go wit a MPFI converstion instead of a new carb to be honest i don't which to go with so thats where u guys come in
but if i do go MPFI what all would i need to do it? and how long do u think it a take? and how hard would it be? I read a few other threads on various forums it help alot in my opinion. But the car people in my family say i gotta take seats and carpet out re do all the wiring in the car i showed them guides and all they say is there leaving something out HELP or im a get the

umm.. no, it isnt all under the hood. you still have to do some re-wiring at the ECU and replace the ECU completly. basically, you need to change the intake manifold, throttle body, distributor, injector resistor box and the computer/ECU. Although you still have to do some wiring besides that.
If I were you, I would read up on it some more before you start taking yours apart, get to know the swap pretty good before you actually do anything.

i bet if u did a search ud find about a million different threads on this same subject i did the std to mpfi swap a while ago on my old hatch and yeh i know theres a million write ups on it its worth the $$ lots of torque compared to stock if u can get the parts free its even better
basically you have to add the following;
1. add additional injector wiring (your stock dual port injection has only 2)
2. add additional distributor wiring (internally a dx or std distributor only has 2 pick-up sensors vs. 3 in a si/hf distributor)
3. add an injector resistor for power supply to your injectors (buy at junkyard)
4. reverse signal on your tps sensor ( as a dx/std throttle rotates in reverse to an si/hf.)
5. replace ecu with si type.
that doesn't sound to difficult, though I tell you I have seen some very messed up cars from people not knowing what they are getting themselves into. If you don't know the basics of what I said I wouldn't recommend trying it on your own.

umm are u sure the car is carbed?.. does it say Dual Point Fuel Injection when you open the hood?.. if so its not carbed.. but first things first.. i would fix the problem with your car now.. that way if your car is giving you problems after the swap you won't have to start at square one.. to me it sounds like your o2 sensor is going out.
