Default What kind of clusters are Plug-and-play??

I don't like the look of a crx cluster. They are pretty ugly i want to get a cluster from a different car, and i don't know which one would fit.
Is there any cluster that is a plug and play deal? If not what's the easiest work that can be done? Wiring is the subject i'm not good at, so i'm here again, asking for your help. Thanks

nothing different looking will plug right in, any other cluster will require some wiring.. and if you can't wire, then guess ur stuck with the stock one

youngwon22,

First of all your going to have to fix that speedo cable before ANY cluster will work.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=664753

I put a 89ish CRX cluster in my 90 DX... It was not plug and play... Many wires had to be rerouted to differant pins.. and four wires needed to be swapped from multi-pulg to multi-plug if memeory serves me right.

The guy (youngwon22) who was asking can't even find the speedo cable on his car. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=664753

He first needs to fiqure out "why' the speedo cable isn't turning... (LOL)..Then worry about swapping clusters and such.

Well in that case you need to be able to fiqure out the pin-outs of the cluster you want to use. I wish I could tell you what fits whats without rewiring but I can't. I can just relay what I had to do.

If it was me.. I'd look for a cluster from the same year models. I think the cluster I used was from a 89ish car... so going into a 90 model DX required re-wiring.

It's not hard IF your skill level is high enough. Seeing your other post about the Speedo cable... I wonder.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=664753

Regardless to get any cluster to work your going to have to fiqure out why the speedo cable isn't turning.

thanks for all the info so far....but this one has NOTHING TO DO WITH MY OTHER TOPIC, WHICH HAS TO DO WITH FIXING MY SPEEDO. I am just trying to get a cluster for the future.

So would 89 integ cluster fit?

Youngwon22,

How do you propose to get that cluster to work if the pinouts are differant if you can't even fix /replace a broken speedo cable?

The plugs will more that likely physically plug into either cluster. Even if they don't you could swap the plugs from the Integra harness onto the Civic...

Have you seen an Integra cluster up close and compared it to the Civic cluster in the car now? (The back side not the front) It should work but some pin-outs will be in different places. Just get out your shop manual and an ohmmeter and track down which trace goes to what. No big deal really.
