how do these things work? i was reading i think was a covercraft ad and it was portraying it as a security feature, with a steel cable for u to lock it down, or an attachment of some sort so that you can lock your door over it.

can u use these over a wet or dirty car? i am one of those who has no covered parking, and i've already had one attempted theft

 

You can cut the wire in 2 seconds.

will scratch your car unless your finish is perfect.

Car cover is only good for long term storage purposes.

the guy i bought my itr from came w/a car cover,i dont know about security,but it sure as hell keeps it clean from dust;better than a garage any day,and especially helps durig the day from the uv rays also when @ work>>people -friends will give you ****,pay no mind to them,i now rent a storage unit for security reasons so now i have the best of both worlds,and my paint it smooth as glass and i drive a beater to work>>95 dodge avenger haha

 

mine too.. my first one at least.....i got a new one now.. from acura OEM one.. that fits perfect. To say the least.. the new car cover really helped mainly because of the lock on the bottom and the homemade reinforcements on the front and back to lock also .. (they are also hidden wires so they are harda to find where to cut.) I have a pager alarm with a motion sensor that triggers really good at night >.( took days of testing and adjustments) but made it work perfect with minimal false alarms.
So heres the catch... My R's been Jacked with many times at night but the most they could do was lift the car cover up from the corner and then it would move the rest of the car cover, therefore making my alarm warn them with chirps...., then i would get paged letting me know.. so i look out my window and check it out. Most cases you see a car take off because they know they've screwed up. Just my experience with car covers..... it kept my emblems on for almost two years now and i don't have a garage. I live in a apartment complex.. with no over head shelter parking. (yea i'm lucky, lots of waking up in the morning to run down stairs to make people run away.. i finally got my emblem stolen (rear the day i decided to drive to school). Well i hope this helps.... I just got a car cover from www.calcarcover.com. The material is called Noah, and it is supposed to be superior in water protection. The only problem is that it leaves some type of film on the car. It kind of sucks. I think I might send it back and just get a cheap cover that protects the finish while the car sits in the sun while I am at work. If anyone close by (San Diego) wants it for $50 less than what I paid, hit me up. It fits the car like a glove.

I have the OEM Integra cover. Here's the deal: It's water resistant, but not waterproof. It won't keep your car dry, but will dry out very fast if it happens to rain due to the material and "weatherproofing" coating. The cover fits near perfect though and keeps all the dew and dust flying around off the car. After about a year though my cover started to fail, now, using it everynight a film gradualy builds up during the week on the surface of the car from the cover. At about the end of the week it's slightly noticable on the windows especially during night driving and impairs your ability to see a little. So then I wash the car. It gets dirty anyways. Buying a new cover every year would solve this though. A good thing about the Acura cover is that the material is thick and it won't flap in the wind and scratch up your paint like thin covers do, especially those made of non-cotton. Otherwise on the "finish issue" I've compared my PY car to others at the AutoX like Yoshi's and I don't see any difference in the amount of scratches on the paint. I assume he doesn't use a cover in his garage. Of course my car is never more than moderatly dusty when I put it on.

You put a cover on a wet or dirty car, but it's not good. The cover will drag a lot when you put it on the car probably causing some tiny scratches in the clearcoat. Slipping it on my always dry and lightly dirty R I see no horrible effect on the paint which other members here would like you to beleive. Just my personal experience.

Oh and one last thing thing, You will have little or no fading of the interior from UV rays with a cover. Faded interior or tiny clearcoats scratches which you get anyways when you wash the car. You decide.

check your local auto parts store, try pep boys. They should have a cheap ($50-75) one that is waterproof. I used one on my teg when it snowed, and pulled it off to a perfectly dry car. From what I know about car covers, you can either choose softness of material, or water resistance for an affordable cover, one that it waterproof and soft will be very expensive.

my garage fits loosely over the car but still does a good job of keeping dirt and UV off the car. works well in the rain t00
