Ideas for my GSR...
OK guys, im barely 16 and am learning more and more everyday. I have a 95 GSR salvage that i've worked my *** off for. Right now im pretty much stock. My immediate plans are suspension.
Here's my question, I think i want to go turbo in the future, but in the mean time i want to have a little sumthin to boost performance. Ideally, the parts that I add, i want to add performance, but also be useful for when I start to boosting. After Intake and exhaust, where should I go? I'll also have a V-AFC II due to a friend selling it to me for cheap (it's still virgin). Keep in mind I'd do any internals when i install the turbo, so I'm really only interested in fuel/air/exhaust/engine manegment/etc... Please no flaming, i'm young and I want to learn.

well the intake will be useless when you get the turbo, because you are obviously going to be getting new intake piping for the turbo. As for the exhaust, I would get a larger diameter since you will be boosting in the future...either the thermal turbo exhaust (3 in) or the apex-i gt spec. Good luck with everything, the gsr is tons of fun!
Heres alittle insight for you, everyone is going to turn 90 like everyone is going turbo, it may happen one day, but the majority of us will not make it. Turbo cars are expensive in every aspect of the term. My advice to you is to start with intake, header, and exhaust like the rest of us ricers. 175 bucks for a premo intake isnt **** when you start living in the boosted realm. And not to flame, but rockin a boosted gizzer isnt too much fun with your parents in the passenger seat, unless your Andretti's kid. If I were you, I would learn to drive your car first, remember, a car is only as good as its driver. Once you start running what it should at the track in stock trim, then upgrade, take full advantage of that, and so forth. Hope I helped.

Do some research. Read the FI forum.
There are many parts that will benefit you na and fi. You just need to decide what you want to do with the car. (ie. drag, auto-x, etc.)
Once you decide the goals for your car, then you buy parts to meet that goal.

No doubt, your completely right. I'm just talknig in the long run. If i do end up goin turbo it wouldnt be for a good year AT LEAST. I realize I still have a LONG *** way to go until i can drive my teg to its full potential. Nevertheless i'm still curious about what you guys think bout what parts to start with performance wise if turbo is tha path i choose to go down. I'm just doin research.

If your going turbo then this is what you should look into:
-LSD (Quaife)
-Suspension setup
-Some nice lightweight rims
-Good street tires (Falken Azenis)
-Clutch that can handle the power you want to put out with turbo
-2.5" or 3" carsound cat
-2.5" or 3" full exhaust
-Hondata s200
This right here is enough to definately keep your wallent occupied. I say first you go suspension and learn how to handle your car. And if your going to be boosting your teg then your going to want to go with Hondata instead of that VAFC. So, just sell that and get some cash to buy the rest of your stuff.
also, goodluck and have fun

My man pat learns quick
Yeah unles your getting parts for free then i woudlnt waste $ on parts that will just be thrown in the attic once your boosted. Myu suggestion get a descent suspension setup, clutch, and learn to drive the car.
Your still young, so focus on school and whats important first. Then maybe turbo your gsr, just keep your priorities straight. After all read my Sig " Turbo isn't a bolt on its a lifestyle"

true true....so now i got another question... IF i'm NOT turboing, then after suspension and clutch, and i/h/e wheres the best place to look for power if it's my daily driver? (i'm sure there plenty of things is the archives but I haven't the foggiest idea on where to start searching...sorry!!!)

Right now your overwhelming yourself with information. Instead of taking it all in at once and just forgetting everything, or looking at it like wow I will never get this done. Just focus on a few things and then search and find your best options on those things. We can give you a list of parts/products/brand names as long as you could imagine. I've been through a very good NA setup and now I am turboing my GSR so i've been through both worlds. I can offer a good amount of advice on NA, as far as turbo, I am still learning. I've gathered quite a bit of info through help from others and through searching.
Just be patient man. You can't buy everything at once. You need to realize the stuff I listed will cost you thousands, and some need to installed and that will cost even more, unless you can do everything yourself (in that case you'd be a very smart 16 year old).
Just figure out what you want to do FIRST. Once you figure that out, go from there. Don't get too far ahead of yourself, or else you'll be just taking in info and not learning a single thing.
