Default b18a1 compared to b18b

I noticed that there is some power differences between the two. Is it true that most of the difference is from the different intake manifolds? Another question, a local guy is selling a complete b18a1 swap for a crx (axles, mounts, linkage, etc. ,) for 1000 with supposively 53k miles on it, is this a good deal?

i believe the b18b has better cams plus the different manifold. and that deal sounds pretty damn good to me

the 90-91 Ls is rated at 130 hp, and the 92-93 (OBD1) Ls is rated at 140. the cams are supposed to be the difference. The 94-up Ls is rated at 142 hp because of the wilder cams and the intake manifold....

not the cams. im not sure but i know its not the cams for sure cuz we measured them on the lobes with this measurement tool my friend had. i would assume the intake mani being one part of it and maybe better profiles in the ecu department. just a guess though.

I believe Hondata doesn't work with OBD0. The only one I heard that does is Zydyne.

NitrousDreamz: You measured the cams, and they're the same? From what engines? 94-up of 92-93? 90-91? I heard they were different...

The only pre-1992 ECU that Hondata will modify is the B16A PR3/PW0. As for B18A/B18B differences, another is the head. The B18B head has bigger intake ports.
