Holding differential while torqueing ring gear bolts (Mista Bone?)
As the title says, I'd like to know how you guys hold the differential while torquing the ring gear bolts. The bearings and speedo gear are already installed.
What I'm doing is installing a Quaife in a YS1 transmission. The Quaife has a series (4) holes in the side of the case that look like they would be for a keyed spanner wrench (maybe not the correct word). I've got one of the full Quaife catalogs and it doesn't say anything about a custom tool being required. Nothing with the literature that came with the unit.
I have a feeling that I'm going to have to make up a custom wrench!!
(and if Mista Bone does answer this post, I'd like to know what transmission fluid you personally like to use)

I think I just stuck the ring gear/diff vertically in a vice between 2 pieces of wood when I torqued mine. It may not be the best method, but it worked.
