hey all. i need a little tuning advice for my next dyno run. does anyone know the maximum i can advance/retard a set of toda b's in a stock b18c5 with just a mugen 2 layer headgasket? i just don't want to have any surprises (clank!) when i go to the dyno next week. i was thinking 4 degrees max. anyone have any recommendations? thanks for any help.
My head is decked 20 thousandths, with stock head gasket. Cams are both advanced significanly... on AEM cam gears, 1 cam is advanced about 7 marks (14 degrees), and the other one a little less.
Sorry, an unreleated question...
What spark plug gap are people using with spec B cams?
Are there a big difference on the gap?
thanks

I tried +3,-1 setting on the new TODA cam gear with Spoon 2 layer headgasket with no problem!!
Actually I went as far as +5 on the intake cam gear at first, because I misunderstand the instruction for the cam gear!! Lucky me, nothing went wrong!!

setup is as follows: Toda spec b's,Toda cam gears (2nd gen), Toda springs, portflow retainers, and a stock b18c5 bottom end. i have had no experience tuning on the dyno, but i am a fairly competent mechanic. i am going to go within the next few weeks. also, it is my understanding to tune the air fuel ratio to 12.8 to 13.3 across the board. anyone have any thoughts on this? right now i can only get a ballpark air fuel ratio change due to the fact that i have only a adjustable fuel pressyre regulator. before everyone tells me to get a vafc or similar fuel tuning device, i plan on getting my ecu rom tuned on the dyno at the beginning of next season. i just want to get it running decent now. it is just "slapped" together at the moment. thanks all.

your probably right...but i bet his settings don't need to be maxed either way. if there is no dyno...its gtech and track for you rod knee boy
your gears are on a veriner (sp) scale not the normal AEM,skunk scale no such thing as 30degrees..............I told you to max them out awhile ago for more HP!

hrm... I still need to get a cut valve cover so I can play with them... For some reason I thought each mark = 2 degrees... I've left them at +4 degrees intake, 0 exhaust. No $ for a while to dyno and no $ for valve cover...
Did Jason ever get his B's + valvetrain + cam gears in and tuned? What is the verdict? Settings?
Just FYI, I have my spec Cs set to +5 intake and -8 exhaust.
No problems.
No problems.
These are on TODA Gears Steve..??? i.e. 1 hash line = 1 deg on the cam ....is that what you are saying ..when you mean +5 in / -8 ex..??TIA
