JGTC coming to America!!!
I've been following up on the JGTC series for a couple of years now so it'll be a dream if it came to the United States. Finally I can see it up close and personal!!! MUAAHAHAAHAH!!!
Ok, I'll bite...what is JGTC? Jello Guzzling Tournament of Champions? Something like that should be televised. Guessing it has to do with Touring Cars.
Japanese Grand Touring Championship. They showed some of the highlight shows on Speed in the past year. Supra's, NSX's, Skylines, etc.

if you watch the movie, it says at about 5 minutes in they plan on taking it to the USA's west coast in 2004.... and they highlight what seems like the LA area.
no news, just the promise of it coming. btw, i dont like the title of the thread, it got me bit too excited for nothing...
it'll probably be at california speedway.

Ha, Japans touring cars are Skylines and NSX, America has the RSX and Sentra, and they wonder the Japanes series is so popular and the U.S series isn't.

Uh, okay. It's Grand Touring... we have a GT series with 911s, NSX, etc as well. Guess what GT stands for?

Very well could be.
I have read of them swapping in smaller motors into a chassis to drop down a class and still retain the more disireable chassis.

No, they just restrict the motor down so it produces approximately 300hp. If it were me doing the rules I'd stick the car in GT-500 since stock they put out about 500 (but do you really think that the Japanese would go for really potent Vipers trampeling around in their series?). I used to wonder how a McLaren F1 in GT-500 would be fair to the other cars until I learned it was choked down to the ~500hp.
The JGTC is a cool series, but there is something really wrong with neutering 200hp from street cars to make them racecars.

Hmm. I think they're kind of goofy - like an SCCA Super Production class populated by really rich guys. I guess I'm too old to get excited about box flares and NACA ducts...

Yeah, the Supras run 3sgte's in GT500, little 2L 4 cyilnders that still put up 500 hp, and allow them to move weight more towards the center of the car. neat stuff.

This is an awesome series in Japan. It brings good racing, good competition, and glamor to the racing community (in Japan). Is the racing any better in the H1 field as compared to H4. Speed is different but is the racing any better. I mean the definition of racing. I don't follow this series too closely. It has to do more with my personal taste.
I would love to see this race come to the USA. If the cars are slower then Nascar or Indy cars what do i care. I want to see good racing and people putting a lot of heart and soul into something they love.

actually the quote says they moved the engine forward a bit to avoid the "front mid-ship" layout weight penalty.

Kirk,
Your comment about SP classes could be read as antagonistic.
Do we all have to race Showroom Stock or Improved Touring spec cars?
Scott, who finds so much to take offense to everywhere...a whole new world has opened up...
