3200.00 to spend. What to do?
Ok I haev a 97 LS integra, 92,000 miles. I want my car to be faster, and more responsive. My compression numbers look like this 165, 165, 165, 165.
I have been wanting a turbo, is this the way to go? or is there any other way 3200.00 could make my car run high 13's. Would 3200.00 on All Motor net high 13's on 1/4 mile? Thanks.

Turbo man!!!!!!!!
If I were you, Id plan everything out long before the actual purchase. This also gives you some time to save up a bit more dinero for extra things...an advertised $3200 turbo kit quickly becomes a $4000 turbo kit. Just make sure you get in on Bens groupbuy in time, as Im not sure when that ends. Check the FI forum.
If youre worried about the mileage, you can always sell the car and put all the money towards something with less mileage and work from there. If you could sell your car for $8k, Im sure you could find a 97+ LS with relatively low mileage for $10 or $11k, then go from there.
I still say order the Drag3 and be done with it though

For your power goals, it seems a turbo would be the best. A greddy kit for a GSR can be made to work with an LS, just ditch the blue box and get a Hondata STage 2b. If you get a drag kit, ditch the deltagate w/g and get a Tial one. You and your motor will be much happier. Remember you won't be able to boost too high unless you build your bottom end. If you want to boost more than 8-10psi, then factor in the cost of new pistons, rods, and sleeves. Some headwork will do wonders also with a boosted motor.
Just in case you wanted to go NA, here's some ideas:
- higher comp pistons (jdm pistons work, or you could use aftermarket)...around 11.5:1
- headwork (p&p w/ valve job)
- Crower 404 cams with stiffer valve springs and ti retainers and cam gears
- Skunk2 IM and bored stock throttle body
- JDM ITR 4-1 header w/ 2.5" test-pipe and 2.5" exhaust
This will get you pretty good gains. There's been people putting down about 180+whp with this. It's not as much power/tq as turbo, but since everyone, including myself, already spoke about turbo, just some NA ideas for you. Good luck.

If you have $3200 exactly, you should know that installation and tuning for the turbo is going to cost a lot of $ too. I guess you could always buy the kit while the price is good, then install it later after you get some more money saved up. Other options? JRSC - for an LS, you would make ~160 hp... enough to hit 14's, but not 13's. LS/Vtec is in that price range (I think you'll put down around 170 hp, but you most likely won't hit 13's with that alone either). I'm no turbo expert, but since the LS has a turbo-friendly 9.2:1 compression ratio, you should be able to boost 9psi without problems and make 200+ hp...
if u want to stay all motor then LS/VTEC would be the answer. just find a good mechanic ot do the work. gonna need vtec head, ITR cams, and ITR pistons
(higher compression) and other things which should get u about 190hp to the wheels enough for 13 sec timeslips.
if u go turbo, $3200 will just cover the purchase of the turbo kit and other misc things with the special if u go with the groupbuy deal. then u have to pay for installation (unless u can do it urself) and tuning.
just remember ur gonna need a better clutch and better suspension (i know u have those springs) what type of shocks tho???

turbo is definitely the way 2 go..why settle for high 13s when with some proper tuning u could very well easily hit low 13s..internals and more tuning then break into 12s . its a much better value for the performance, even tho it will as mentioned above cost more than 3200 for the kit and tuning..but the drag groupbuy from ben, the price is a damn steal. i wish i had gone in on that!
I'v been researching turbos for the past 6 months or so, well before I got my car, I knew from the day I started wanting an Integra that I wanted a turbo. There are three kits that I know of for the LS(F-max, Revhard, and Drag). I think if I were to buy a kit I would probably get the DRAG 3, but what I think is right for me is a custom turbo to my specs. If there is a shop in your area that does mandrel bending at a reasonable cost you could, for $3200 do way more than what you could do with a kit. I think if you have the money, go for turbo, it will get you into the 13's.
save and invest your money
u already know on how much money u get back from investing into a car
but if u want to smoke some detroit punks, then i would say turbo and some NOS

heres the part bothering me, the relibility of the turbo, on a motor with 92,000 miles, and only a 165 compression per cylinder... thats a problem. It wouldnt take a turbo. Im looking into my options as we speak, I may just spend the cash on a LS-VTEC rebuild... well see what happens.

Hey I have $32... wait, it's only $32 not $3200! Crap!
Do more research on a turbo. It'll make you go fast but once you start modding the engine reliabilty comes into play, no matter if you go FI or NA. So learn all you can about building engines and it'll be easier and cheaper to fix the broken parts in the future.
Also, find someone in your area to help you out. And if they know a thing or two about turbos, then that's even better!
Good luck!

If you sell your car, choose your next one carefully. Choose exactlly what you are going to do to it before yoy buy it. Also, don't find out you got ripped off 2 weeks after you bought the car, make sure you know what you are doing. I found that one out the hard way when I was in a rush the day I bought it, I didn't take the time to look it over completlly. Now, to find out my car had some body work done on it (bad body work) and some bondo is cracking on the left rear fender now. Thinking back on it now, after looking through the local Auto Trader, I would have bought a hatch back Civic due to how light they are, and the cheep price of them then drop a B18C1 in to it. I would have paid less then what I paid for my car total and had a way faster car!!! Just make sure you know what you really want, and don't go on all looks if you are going for speed.
