smoke out of my EG 92 HB with 92 LS turbo
I have every possible new part on my motor from ground up. NEW gaskets, seals, after market pistons, rods etc. My car Blows white smoke A LOT of it, I dont have a blown head gasket, busted rings, bent valves. I tore the motor apart to see if everything was in order and it was. I was told it was a fuel prob. I have tried new map sensors, messing with the fuel pressure, changing ECU's, nothing has solved this. I hate and it is embarrasing to have someone beside me or behind me as I sufficate them. I can smell the fuel out of the back of the exhaust.... ANYONE HAVE ANY SOLUTIONS... AT regular to low idle the car blows, when the car is heated up it goes away till I down shift... I have to constantly stay in 5th so I dont create a smoke screen...
white smoke is not fuel...it is a leak of coolant into the cylinders. do you have a block guard? did you weld it and machine it? are you runing too rich maybe? try lowering the fuel input a bit (if you have a fuel press reg). how much gas do you use a day?
as a matter of fact I do have a block guard in there. Im not losing any coolant though. I did lower the regulator, 20psi.

everyone is correct, if there is white smoke coming out of your exhaust it is coolant being burnt somewhere.

Blue:Oil
Black:Fuel
White:Coolant

If you've double checked everything, then it is a possibility that your head or block is warped, causing the head gasket not to seal properly, letting coolant into the cylinders. Just trying to think of what it could be. I know how you feel. When **** like this happens it sucks.

I had head done and the block checked at a reputable machine shop and it isnt warped. I wonder if its the block guard. I always keep an eye on the Temp guage and it seems to never want to climb past 120 140 at the most when boosted. I have the fan running constant for now since texas is still hot. I put a new radiator. I noticed a puddle of antifreeze near the tranny bellhousing under the Thermostate housing. I noticed it is leaking. I dontknow if this could be the prob. That shouldn't make the car smoke though. i just dont understand why the smoke smells like GAS... I keep smoke screening everyone.

idle's at about 1200 RPM's and then surges for about 4 seconds then goes back to normal, then it goes up and down three times then it repeats itself. It sounds stupid along with the embarrasment of smoke screens. Anyone else with suggestions. Just to say, what would cause this prob. What would first be checked, till the last thing checked.

How long has it smoked? Your idle is probably surging because you are low on coolant. Try this- take the radiator cap off and start the engine with it full of coolant- does it blow out like a geiser? If so- you have a leak in iether the head gasket, head, or block. I have done headgaskets on cars that had lots of coolant in the exhaust that took a LONG time to burn it out- they blew white smoke for 45 minutes. Is it smoke or vapor? Smoke will not disappear as it moves but vapor disappears shortly after it leaves the exhaust. Does it smell sweet?
yoo,, it maybe your seals in the turbo. Some times the oil or coolant leaks into the compressor or both side and cause smoke. I have a 92 mr2 turbo also including the hondas, and i pretty much replaces the motor like yourself, and found out the turbo need to be rebuild. Once i did that i keep a turbo on reserve that balance and ready to roll if i blow a seal from 15psi of boost.
