Just swapped and I have a noise coming from the tranny/clutch area??!!
I just put in a jdm gsr b18c motor with my old s4c tranny and i now have a noise that wasn't present before. I used the throw out bearing from the old swap and the clutch and flywheel from the b18c. The noise sounds like a loud hissing when i'm going 30 mph+ and downshift to 2nd with the clutch disengaged(clutch pedal pressed). Anyone have any ideas?
No, I never pulled the flywheel and pressure plate off the gsr motor. Is this a type of noise a clutch would make. It has good grip but just makes that noise. It dosn't make the noise when the clutch is engaged. If it is just the clutch, it won't be a big deal because i was planning on replacing that anyway in a couple months(along with resurfaceing the flywheel and a LSD
).
).
Is there a noise when you're in neutral?
I'd replace the throw out bearing and resurface the flywheel. And how bout a Exedy "oem styel" replacement clutch?
It's always best to relace the bearing/clutch, water pump, timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and resurface the flywheel when doing a swap. Prefered before you drop it in to same time....and money if a shop did the install.
~~~ EDIT ~~~ To my question.....Is there a noise when in neutral, and the clutch pedal is not pushed in?
There is no noise in neutral. The noise only comes when i put it in second after going 30-40 plus miles an hour and slow down. The noise slows as the car comes to a stop or slows down.
I did put in a new timing belt/tensioner and water pump. I didn't bother to do the flywheel or inspect the clutch because i planned on replacing them in a couple months. I just want to make sure that everyone thinks this is a clutch problem and not anything else.
Thanks for the help everyone.
