How can you tell what year a motor is??? I know that you look at the numbers on the head above the headers, but what do they actually mean? Thanks in advance

 

there is a larger number on the motor near the header...2 digit....someone put that pic up...im too lazy to look for it

 

its a number like this 9/4 that means its a 94.

 

on the side of the valve train... right under your valve cover facing the front of your car... the metal is ingraved with a bunch of symbols... one of them being

9 | 8 for me... i got a 98 GSR

so just look there and see...

 

i was told that the year is always one year older from what is stamped on the block...ie: a 95 stamped on the block would mean it's from a 94.

can someone confirm that?

but ther should be a 2-digit number stamped on the front of the block on top of the header. right in the middle.
