The mkIII supra ct-26 and the mr2 ct-26 are NOT the same. I'm only familiar with the supra one since I own one, but I think the mr2 ones have a different exhaust housing and a smaller compressor. The supra one is probably a good size for a 2.4L engine with 4 valves/cyl, but probably a bit large for a 2 valve/cyl engine unless it is really built. In stock form it is slightly smaller than ideal for the 24 valve 3.0L supra engine with 230hp and 246lb-ft. It makes great midrange torque but starts to run out of breath on the top end. Also I wouldn't recommend using it for boost over 12 psi as they have some reliability problems with high boost.
The supra ct-26 is bigger than a mr2 ct-26. You can tell the difference because the mr2 turbo has 2 holes on the turbo flange and the supra ct-26 has one. I would say the supra ct-26 is comparable to a t-3 turbo off a 300z. On my old supra it was really being pushed too hard past about 11psi. It would probably be better suited to a big 4cly rather than a 3.0l 6cyl. The ct-26 on my old mr2 was garbage. It spooled fast but was very ineffective past 5500rpm, I would stay away from it if you want to make any real power on the top end.

Supra CT26 = 300 hp, MR2 CT26 = 275. It's considered a very mild upgrade to stick the Supra compressor onto the MR2 CT26.
I was told the MR2 CT26, with split tang turbine, spooled right at 3K. No clue on the Supra CT26... but being compared to the .60/.63 T3 off the early 300ZX makes it sound promising. Flanges look to be T3, I saw both turbos for a period not to have exceeded 15 seconds each, so there may be minor/major variances in the flange.

Full boost by 4k rpm on a 2.4 liter is QUICK!?!?!
I think NOT!
With a turbo that small, full boost below 2800 rpm on that motor would be quick.

There are many different t-3's. I had a supra ct-26 and a t-3 off a 300z sitting in my shed and they are about the same size. The ct-26 is physically larger but the wheels on the inside are about the same. I don't think I have ever seen a mr2 make over 260whp with the STOCK ct-26, my old mr2 only made 213whp with the factory ct-26 with the wastegate unplugged, however it was fully spooled at 3200rpm in 3rd gear. A b series would make better #'s than a 3sgte and I wouldn't doubt you can get close to 300whp out of it but for that kind of power I would not use a ct-26. One nice thing you can do with a ct-26 is bore out the compressor housing and fit a t04 wheel in it. My friend with a supra turbo maxed out at 283whp on the stock ct-26. The power peaked at 4500rpm because the turbo could not flow enough air to sustain high boost on the top end. He then spent a few hundred dollars upgrading the compressor and gained nearly 100hp! I do know the highest horsepower supra on a upgraded ct-26 has 440whp so you can always upgrade later if it doesn't make enough power to start with.

That's why you only made 213 whp... run the wastegate and a boost controller, turn the boost down so the turbo isn't over spinning out of the efficiency range, and you'd have gotten a bit more than that.

That wouldn't happen to be John Lunsford, would it? He lives near me.
