i dont know what happen to my e brake. its off my 96 hatch the little button u push to release it is going in the handle when the brake is up and its getting harder to take the e brake off . it didnt use to do that before when the brake was up the button would stick out and u just have to push it in and it would go down. does anyone know what i could do or how to take the handle apart so that i could look at it

 

stock handle?
you could bash it with a hammer...
take off the surrounding panels and see if its moved at all.

meanwhile, when you try to release it just pull up slightly and then push the button..that will make it easier until its fixed

 

Take the e-brake handle cover off, or if you have an armrest take that out instead...
