I'm burning oil, HELP!!!
I don't understand this. My engine has less than 100k or 90k miles on it. But these last 3 or 4 months when I start getting near 3000 miles to change the oil it just all burns up. This happened once befor, oil light came on, so I kept checking my oil level. After about 2k miles I still had all my oil. But this past month I've done a lot of driving and my oil light came on last night when I was coming to a hard stop. So of course all my oil was burned up. But it was all there last month, and the month befor that. So how can oil just all of a sudden burn of real quick. You would think that it would be a steady process. BUt its not, once I start getting to the point where it needs to be changed. It suddenly dissapears.
ummm, it might have been steady burning the whole time. Most likely the reason the oil light came on while you were braking hard was because the oil level was low, and the remaining oil all went to the front of the oil pan, which starved the oil pump.
rev your motor till redline and see if a lot of smoke comes out the exhaust.
its normal for high mileage (not so well maintained) honda motors to consume some oil but not soo much. my cx motor needed oil every two weeks. had cracked valve seals.

I never noticed any oil on the block, besides what I spelt. my exhaust smoke isn't blue, or at least if it is I can't see it. So i'm ruling out piston rings, but not completly at least not until I do a compression check. I was told that when i start the car in the mourning if I see the blue smoke(burnign oil) than its my valve seals. Someone also mentioned that if i rev it to redline and i see oil than its my valve seals. So of course if i'm running the engine a lot harder one day I will burn oil more that day than if i never left 4k rpms the day befor. So maybe that was what happened, I just drove it rather hard lately and burned up a lot of oil.
So is there a way to see if my valve seals are bad without taking the head apart?

i think when you rev the engine hard and suddenly decelerate you get a large vacuum in the crankcase which will suck oil past the valve seals and cause a lot of blue smoke (if they are bad)..also like you say if you leave it standing and get smoke when you start it up... remember that the cat burns off a certain amount of oil so it may not be obvious you're burning it until it gets really bad...
