What needs to be changed in US RSX-S to make as strong as a JDM RSX-R? What internals need to b changed to make it a type-r.
Is US 6 speed tranny the same as JDM, but just w/o LSD?

Well to reach DC5R(type R) power you just need a few things.
-ITR cam shafts
-ITR Intake manifold
-Hondata k20a (ITR) Flash
-ITR LSD
-ITR Final Drive

Good Luck.

kind of new to the game ( no question is a dumb question)... so i don't need to find a trust worthy spot to get a used JDM K20A, i can get a new RSX-S block and head, n build internals. should i go with type-r or is there better choices?

Well at this point it is entirely up to you.
You can get a complete R swap for around 5-6k. And that includes Engine, Ecu, Tranny. So the LSD and Final Drive will already be included so all you have to do is have the motor installed.

If you wanted to get the S motor it might be a little more work.
You can get a used type S motor for around 3500- 4000.oo which includes Engine, ecu, tranny.
But you will need to purchase and install the ITR parts. Here are the prices on these items more or less.

ITR cams = $500.00
ITR Intake manifold = $320.00
Hondata ITR ecu Flash = $600.oo
ITR LSD = $895.00
ITR Final Drive = $ 325.oo
Plus around 1000k for install of the parts.
So you are looking around $8640.oo.

It might be cheaper to just get the R swap.
Good luck bro.

You forgot to add pistons to that list. The k20a's comp ratio is 11.5:1, as opposed to the k20a2's comp ratio of 11.0:1.

i'm just tryn to go as new as i can with this swap, used engine: sometimes u don't know what u gettn... i can get a new RSX-S engine so i thought it might be cost efficient to build it up. So i'm on the search for a clean K20A or DC5 front clip.

This is a dif. forum topic but does anyone know of a reputible JDM engine importer?

sorry can't IM u back yet... not enough post

Well if you plan on buying a new type S motor/tranny/ecu you beter be prepared to pay around 8k for the set up.

When you purchase a ITR swap the motor has around 10-25k miles on them. So your best bet would be to just go with the ITR set up.

As for importers there are a few shops that stock them.
