Help: SRS Light
Ok, here's the scenario, please reply if you have any suggestions or have encountered this problem yourself in your ITR.
I do NOT have an aftermarket steering wheel and have never touched the stock steering wheel or the passenger airbag
the car's never been in an accident, or touched in anyway.
the SRS light came on maybe 3 weeks ago, after starting it, it was parked outside for 4 hours or so, (that wouldn't make it come on)
after taking it in for warranty, the dealer reset the computer and its FINE, didnt' come on
after parking it for 3 hours, 2 days later the SRS light is back on right after i start it up, the car drives perfectly fine, and everything seems normal, but seeing the SRS light on pisses me off.
anyone know why, or how i can manually reset the computer or the srs light myself without going to the dealer?
anyone know why this would happen to a completely stock ITR ?
please leave what you might think is happening
your information is greatly appreciated
I personally think it could be my alarm, but then again its probably not,
and then i could think its just a defect that i got and maybe i need a new ecu or something
or i think its just something that came on again, and i need to reset the ecu again
thanks.

doesnt work for the srs
doesnt work for the srs
Right SRS reset is in the fuse box, had this happen on a car a while back but the steering wheels was changed. The Cable reel was bad and with the stock wheel in place the dealer looked at it and replaced the cable reel. No probs after that. I think the person that put that other wheel on the car I had at the time did something to mess it up. The part is around $100 but I only knew it was that because I happen to try another one.
Take it back to the dealer.
Take it back to the dealer.
yeah i'm thinking of just going back to the dealer
but manauall resetting it seems easier than make a stupid appt and waiting forever for them to fix it

Dude go to that link. You can reset it yourself. Forget the dealer.
Pull out that yellow plug that's near all your fuses under the dash. It just unplugs like anything else. Then do your thing.

if the SRS light is coming on, something related to it is having issues. I doubt it's a "bug" somewhere, or it would shut off as randomly as it comes on. When you take it back to the dealership, have them check out the SRS related items. (plugs under seats, air bag, even cable reel behind steering wheel, etc..) because you will continue to do this until whatever it is, is fixed.
stick a paperclip in it
crap stupid dealership resets it goes off, then it'll come back on
dealers are lazy and stupid
but it might be the cable i guess
but i never had the problem till now

just take it to the dealer and tell them that you have read that it is the cable, if they have any questions have them call Sunnyvale Acura in Sunnyvale Ca, they did the work on mine. You shoudl really fix it, otherwise might as well remove the airbag. If all else fails give the manufacturer a call and complain, the dealer should not be messing around with a safety mechanism by resetting it and hoping it does not come back. It takes 30 minutes tops to talk to someone at Acura, it took me less to call Japan HQ and find someone that spoke english.
