oil presure gauge?
I just got an autometer electronic oil presure gauge and i want to put it in, the only thing im not sure of is where to mount the gauge in the block and if i will need any adapters, I ahve a 94 integra L...
The factory oil pressure switch (for the warning light) is next to the oil filter. That's the place to put it. Does the new sender have a terminal for the dash light? If so, you don't need the factory switch. If not (& you want the dash ligt), you'll have to find a tee or something to put them both in.
Please be careful when setting up this gauge, I have had a scary experience...
I put in an oil pressure gauge by removing the factory oil switch and using a tee, one end to the sender unit and one for the dash light...
The tee broke off in the block hence oil was spilling everywhere...I think it happened because the suspension of my car was too rigid hence it vibrated until it just snapped...
Remedy try mounting the unit on the firewall or somewhere where it will be firm in place and run a steel braided line to one end of the tee hence there will be less pressure in terms of weight...

Yup, good point. For my set up, I have like a 20" braided line running from the block to the firewall, then it goes into a T where I have my oil pressure sender and another brass nipple, then another braided line goes from the T to my turbo oil inlet. If you need a T for something, I recomend doing a remote set up. A broken T in the block is a mess.

When you do the remote, ground the assembly through its bracket. Ihe original pressure switch and probably the new pressure sender need to be grounded in order to work. I remember someone who put teflon tape in all the threaded connections, & a rubber grommet to hold the plumbing in the bracket. Then he wondered why the gauge didn't work.

Would it work if i just connected the gauge to the swith thats there right now for the oil light?</TD></TR></TABLE>No. The factory pressure switch is just that - a switch. The sender for your gauge is more like a variable resistance.
