Thos w/ Aftermarket wheels
When balancing wheels do you opt for outside balance? I had a friend who got his Mugens scratched up pretty bad because of the outside balance weight. I know that some people are now opting with center balance and some using just the inside balance, just wondering what your opinion of this is?

America's Tire Co uses a special tire mounting machine that doesn't touch the lip of the rim at all
I also request that they use tape mounts. That should prevent any scratches

Unfortunately the nearest ATC is ~400 miles away
George, I know that center balancing using those stickies are nice in terms of controlling up-and-down bobble, but how's the side-to-side when driven under harder conditions

BTW, I'd also like to add that tape mounts have extremely sticky adhesives. My aforementioned friend's mechanic had to use 1/3 gallon (and a flathead) of solvent to get that 7 gram weight off

yeah, tell me about it...I ripped the $#!T out of my fingers peeling it off as well...I have had no problems w/ my sticky wieghts on my spoons either
the best way is to dynamic balance them(wieghts on both lips) static balancing (wieghts in center) wont always cure the shimmy..but with good tires and wheels..not much wieght is required..i have no wieghts on my slicks w/ mf10's because so much rubber is lost they wieght is constantly changing..
did i spell wieght right?

I just balanced my stock wheels with another set of AVS-I's. I always run tape weights and haven't had any issues at speed or track events. Funny, one of my wheels balanced 100% W/O the need for any weights tonight!!! I'm lucky!! lol The car feels stable and solid with no bad feedback. Oh, I've never had an alignment either going on 48K miles.....
