H&R Race do not cut bumpstops?
I just called H&R, gave them the part number for my springs, which are H&R race springs for a G3, and they told me I would NOT need to cut the bumpstops and to leave them alone. I wish I had the instruction sheet that came with the springs, but the shop that did the install threw them away. My control arms hit my shock towers, because my bumpstops are cut too short. What do you H&R race owners think of this? Are you guys running cut bumpstops? I am going to have a more experienced shop redo the front installation, and I guess I have to buy new bumpstops. Oh well...

When we put the H&R springs in my buddies ITR we cut the bump stops a little. (not as much as usual.) Rides / handles great.
Instructions came with mine, they told me to cut the bumpstop in half so i did and have had no problems (installed them 4 months ago). This probably doesn't help you any, but the instructions do say to cut them in half.
hmm, I posted this on team-integra.net and I am getting mixed responses. I have also read almost every post on bumpstops both recent and archived on both forums, and the responses are also mixed. User Kaboomin above says the instructions said cut them in half, while the H&R rep told me not to. Why the contradiction? Some people say cut 'em while others say leave it alone. I am going to try to do the reinstallation myself next week. We'll see how it goes. Lets keep em comin...

you're supposed to cut them with civics, but not integras.
i'm pretty sure the ride is quality is pretty close.
do what you think is best.

Instruction sheet told me to NOT cut them, but these damn H&R Sport springs lowered my car 3"
When I went to remove my shocks a few weeks ago to trim the bumpstops, the rear ones were totally disintegrated, turned to dust. This is because the rears had been bottoming on the bumpstops for almost 2 years now and destroyed the bumpstops.
Damn POS soft springs, I have got to get some Ground Controls on there w/ higher spring rates. I'll have to buy new bumpstops too.

When I put on my H&R coilovers I never cut anything. My car is dropped 1.5 inches all the way around on stock GSR blades and tires. I measured the gap and from the hub-centric part of the rim to the middle of the arc on the fender I got 12.5 inches. Stock was 15 inches.
My car handles good but it rubs on hard turns and hittinf bumps while turning and I never got a camber kit. WHats the purpose of cutting the bumpstops and its the rubber thing the spring sits on where the ''hat'' is right?

the bumpstop is the piece that goes on the shock piston underneath the dust cover. It's like this dense foam material that keep the shock from compressing too far. Hitting the bumpstop is known as bottoming out (at which point the suspension's effective spring rate goes infinite), and make a car extremely unsettled if it occurs during hard cornering.
And as I have found out, if you hit them enough, they will eventually disintegrate into dust.
