Project H3 or H2
from this
to this
as of now it will be an h3 car....but i might put 5 lug suspension on and massage the engine so it will be bumped to h2.....
as of now i have under 800 bucks in the car/engine/tranny....i still need head lights and front bumper....
if it does not become the h3 car of my dreams it will serve as a daily driver....with ac ps and leather...sun roof....as a daily driver it will be nice!!
but anyways....

Hi chad.
i think to be an H2 car, you need to run a B18C5 motor; complete. i think warren asked about this when he blew up his Type R motor; can't use a GSR motor and "update" it to be a Type R; has to be an original Type R powerplant with all the pieces (intake mani, Tbody, Type R tranny).
therfore, if i were you, i'd run it in H3. much less $$$ to run there and be competitve....
have fun and good luck with the project!

The difference is Alex's car was legal for another series and had the logbook to prove it -- which made it HC legal by the current rulebook.
Building a class-illegal car specifically for the HC is against both the letter of the spirit of the rulebook. Not that that should concern you any...

Alex's car was logbooked and legal for a Grand Am class. And it still had a B18C1 in it.
The car cannot be bumped up a class just for adding parts, which may be legal in a car logbooked for another series.

Come to H3 so I can roll you
and what RJ said is correct about the rules. Bumps are only to accomodate legal, logbooked cars from outside Honda Challenge. Much like Alex's Grand Am Cup Integra from a couple years ago.

Does this help at all? (from the HC Rulebook)
7.1 Vehicles modified beyond limits
Vehicles prepared beyond Honda Challenge, which can show evidence of prior competition usage in a recognized sanctioning body, (Grand Am, SCCA, etc) may compete in the Honda Challenge but will be "bumped" up one classification and then evaluated. Drivers must present a valid logbook for the vehicle before competition. Example: A Grand Am “Sport Touring” Integra GS-R with bigger brakes, and remote reservoir shocks, (or any combination thereof) would be bumped up from H3 to H2. However, the minimum weight would still follow the Honda Challenge weights listed for that vehicle. Drivers of such vehicles must declare modifications, which would make them illegal for a specific class before racing.
12.1 Body Swaps
a) Vehicle body swaps are permitted in the event of a collision that renders a car’s tub “unusable.”
b) The body swapped into must have no structural advantages over the original body.
c) The trim level of the car as it is classed for competition must remain intact. Mixing and matching of trim levels is not permitted. Examples of body swaps:
Legal: A H3 Integra GS-R may be rebuilt from an Integra RS tub. The “advantages” of the RS shell are the lack of sunroof and ABS – both of which may be removed under these rules.
Illegal: An H3 Integra GS-R may not be rebuilt using an Integra Type R shell. The Type R shell has structural reinforcements that are not available on RS/LS/GS/GS-R Integras.
If you can take a Civic HB and Bump Up to H1, can't he bring his H3 integ into H2 with the other Type-R's? (I am building my GSR and still contemplating H1 or stay in H3 (anyone else thinking of H3 on the west?)
