how much to uninstall my viper alarm?
got it installed at circuit city couple years ago..now i need to get rid of the car but i want my alarm. how much do they usually charge to uninstall a car alarm? i tried posting in the security forum but got no replies.

not worth the time and money unless your alarm cost more than $300-$400 (and even then is questionable). Most likely they'll cut a few inches from the harness, and put enough wires together so the car can start and run (probably take like 15-30 minutes).
Then for your next car... the install will be ugly and more prone to problems since you'll have to extend every single wire from the cut & used system. And the install SHOULD cost MORE than a new system and probably won't be under any gaurantee since the installer would say any problems is with the unit you brought in and not his install.
Just buy a new system

I recently taken off my friend viper alarm with ease.
It's not that hard. My friend look at me thinking it was hard. I just made sure all the wires were cut where it is connected to the vehicle. You can either use solder and heatshrink tubing or tied it up (don't tie it up like a twisty pair...
going to cause a high resistance... tie it up like if it was a wire again) and black tape.
I should have a how-to solder wires or how-to take off car alarm.
Difficult to try to described the process without pictures.

i had to rip my viper alarm out... that i didnt know i had, because they dumbfuck before lost the remote and then cut the ****** wire to the siren (and took the siren)... i had to idea it was there until i put my clutch in and we disconnected the battery... it was not hard to uninstall.. then again i wasnt trying to save it, i just didnt want everything to ******* blink!

laff.. i remember i had this brand called K9 Classic. Boy that sucker fried up one day and made my parking lights blink like strobe.
