What's wrong with my window??
My driver's side window is really really hard to roll down......now of course I have a dx, so nothing is powered!!! The passenger side rolls down fine, and so did the driver's side till recently!! It's fine till it gets about half way down and it starts to get stuck almost and you have to really use your muscles!!
Does anyone know what's up?? Please help!! thanks

someone broke into my car last monday and i had to replace the window. it was really hard to roll up after i put the new one in. just go to autozone or a dept. store and get some spray silicone. spray it in the sliders while the window is down, wait for it to run down a bit and then roll the window up. repeat a couple of times and you should be good to go. if that doesnt help then the window might be off the track. in that case you can pull the door panel off and straighten it.

brian, did you replace the window yourself? just wondering how much it cost you to do it, like how much the glass was and stuff.
I was wondering because my car was broken into and had to pay to get the window replaced, the insurance didn't pay for it because they had to give me a check for all the crap that was stolen, and as I watched the guy put the window in, I said, there is no friggin way I'm paying him $150 to do this in 15 minutes... I guess most of the price was in the glass? Yeah I know this is getting off topic...

sometimes the rubber weather stripping "rolls" over, and binds making the window either hard, or impossible to rollup...happens every 4 months on my car
im guessing that glass depends on the car. i went to a shop in town that deals mostly with body shops but still sold to the public so the price was considerably lower. ill put it this way, everywhere i called for a window wanted around $250 for a drivers side window in a 2000 civic. this place only charged me $150. hows that for markup in the body shops...
anyways. putting the window in is pretty easy. you take your door panel off and roll the window up and down and you can see how the mechanism works. the new window should come with two plastic tabs with holes at the bottom of the window. you remove the old window (or in my case whats left of the window) and slide the new window in from the top of the door. make sure you get the front and back of the window in the guides inside the door. attach the bottom of the window with appropriate hardware and lube up the sliders as i instructed above.
peace,
brian

Just today I brought my car back to the place that did my body work. I was having trouble with the window not aligning right when it goes all the way up. Sometimes it is hard to roll up and down. I just received the call that the window regulator is bad, apparantly this is a wear item and just wore out--it didnt break. They said the part will cost around $65 but not including labor, luckily they are putting mine in for free. Hope this helps ya.

I used to work at a honda dealership before the performance shop I work at now and I have fixed your problem on numerous vehicles.
96-98 civics being hatchbacks or coupes even a few four doors are notorious for windows coming off track this is because of a faulty window channel(rubber piece the window sits and slides in). it pinches in the front channel and usually bends the regulator mechanism which is why it becomes difficult rather than difficult all the time. you will most likely have to replace the window rubber channel, front and rear guides, and the regulator.
You don't have to worry about it happening again because if you buyb the factory replacement's they are upgraded to solve the problem. if you have any questions i am sure your local dealer will be happy to at least talk with you.
I know dealers are more expensive but if they do the job right and eliminate the problem what more can you ask for? give them a try
Since we're on this topic...
I have a '00 coupe w/ power windows, and the passenger side is brutally slow. I'll try the silicone spray in a few days, but I recall someone mentioning that the speed can be regulated somehow? Any truth to this?
