squeal noise at 1900 rpm??
Hi-
I have a 98 LS 5 sp w/ 67K. At approx. 1900 rpm (in neutral or moving) I get a squeal noise from my engine bay area. It is only noticable with the window down, and comes on/goes off each time the engine speed goes through the 1800-1900 rpm range. It does not occur at any other speeds, and sounds like a bad belt- but the belts look ok.
Any help would be great. Thanks!!

yes
even if it's not a belt, wont hurt to make sure.
Also when was the last time you replaced your brakes? My friends ITR squeals around that RPM then stops and it's his shity brake pads/rotors going out.

have a friend gas it until you hear the noise. then take a bottle of water and pour it on the belt, if the squeal goes away, then thats your colprit, if not then, your SOL
have a friend gas it? Dude, the throttle is right there in front of your face, on that big thing called the intake manifold, then the throttle body. If you don't find it, have someone rev it once, so you can see where it is for future reference.
And yes, adjust the tensioners before you go buy all new belts like me
. I have the same problem...but at lower rpm, and when it rains, holy **** do they squeel at idle all the way through 3000 rpm. So, I'm changing them anyway, and cutting my A/C off, since its about to be winter time.
