Axle question, can it pop out on its own?
heres the thing, its a gsr motor using the i guess new style drivers side axle and intermediate shaft, by this i mean the way the axle goes into the intermediate shaft, the axle would i guess be a female fitting, wheres the intermediate shaft would be a male fitting with the snap ring, anyway once the axle is put in properly and the snap ring snaps into place, is it possible later on from hard driving for the axle to pop out of the intermediate shaft? it still works but the axle is no longer pushed in all the way onto the intermediate shaft?
It is possible. If someone replaced the C.V. boots and did not leave enough air in the boots, it is even likely. The "suction" in the boots can pull the axle out of the transmission or the intermediate shaft, especially when cornering.
so say everything is assembled correctly, is it still possible by hand to pop the driveshaft off of the intermediate shaft, not completely remove but to i guess unseat the axle off the snap ring? if so i figured that would be messed up to be able do do such a thing, id fidure it would be locked in, and the only way to unseat it would be to disaasemble everything needed according to the manual
