Default Insurance w/ a turboed integra.

What do you guys do for insurance w/ your tegs. Do you not tell them? What about if your car gets totaled? Can you just show them reciepts after an accident? If you tell them beforehand, will they drop you? Will they increase your rates?

This is my only, and last concern about going turbo. What happens if I get it, then total my car, am I just out the $6,000?

Well assuming you DO total the car, you could always buy it back from the insurance company and then sell (or reuse) whatever of the mods are still in good shape... Wouldn't be a total loss.

Well, my car was recently broken into and a number of turbo related parts where stolen. My insurance company, Allstate, payed for it all. I didn't tell the insurance company about the turbo before hand but I did have most of the receipts. I know that this is a little different then totalling a car, but I got the impression that if my car was totalled and I had receipts for the parts, my insurance would pay for it.

i agree.. i have the same company "allstate" and i had a talk with my agent before i put anything on.. i told him i will put wheel and suspension that alone cost close to 5K.. he said basically everything will be covered besides stereo upgrades as long as you have all receipts and a picture along with it would be even better.. so what i did.. is this.. save every single receipt for every mod before its put on i take a picture as well as its one the car and during the install.. i would do it anyways just to record the changes it has undergone.. but at the same time its usefull in case theft or accident happens. He also mentioned that the value of items does not matter... but now that i have passed the half value of the car in just a few aftermarket mods i'm begining to question this myself.. i think i'm gonna call this week and see whats up and if everything will be covered.. or if i need to pay a higher premium.. bottom line is, i tihnk its worth investing in insurance as you will be refunded later and dont have to worry much about loss.
