yes they are OBD2 compliant, however you need to have O2 sensor bungs welded in. Also those ebay carsound cats do not come with flanges, so you'll have to get those welded on too.

When it's all said and one, you might as well buy one from SMSP.

what is smsp, i need a high flow cat!!! im buying a cat-back and currently i have custom pipping with out a cat so what should i do buy a cat or a o2 simulator

 

if u have custom piping then u can just have the cat welded on to the pipe without the flanges. if u want to use the o2 sensors then u are gonna have to have the threads for the sensors put into the pipe.

 

Why bother with a cat if you already removed it?

E-bay is $31.95 min bid + $15 shipping and handling = $46.95. No O2 bungs or flanges.

Like P1mpSlap said you may be better off getting something that is just plug and play from SMSP or whatever.

Ps. I can get you the same universal one that's on ebay for a little cheaper (2.5 in). If you need it. Let me know?

Bad idea! The exhaust has to give a little to compensate the for movement of the motor. Once you weld the cat. to the piping, you make it to rigid that you end up breaking bolts, rubber hangers, or even the weld themselves. I've worked at a speed shop and I use to see people come in who had their stuff welded like this, and they wanted to get it fixed. This one guy kept developing a leak on the header flange. We took out the cat and installed the proper flanges. Needless to say the problem got fixed. Honda puts a lot of research into the development of their parts and systems in their cars. They put all the ball and socket style flanges on cars for a reason. IMO, save yourself some cash and get it done right the first time around.

Yesbuy, smsp or sms products is a custom exhaust builder. I was told to send an IM to the username smsp here on HT.com for a price quote, so I did. Since if I went the ebay route I would still have to pay S&H and get a flange to make it fit the 2.5" collector on my jun header, and pay S&H on that and apparently still need it to have a bung. I did not know I needed it to have a bung. I thought I just had one in the collector and that was it. Anyway, depending on what SMSP says that may be the way I go.

 

yah at first i didn't want to spend alot of money but now im getting a new header cat and cat-back!!! already sold my muffler just looking for a good deal! and i want my cel light to go away when i take my car out of storage, im not in any rush cause the car has 5 more months until it comes out!

 

I know what you mean. I started out planning on getting a $300 header and then holding off for awhile. Now I've bought a $550 header and I'm searching for a cat and a muffler to go along with all new 2.5" piping. What do you mean cel light? Is that a warning light on your dash? I can't deal with that.

My total on the cat with the flanges and bung + $15 for the muffler shop to weld it should be around $75. I am supplying the muffler, mandrel bends and cat, and the muffler guy is supplying the straight sections and welding it all for around $125. Any comments are welcome, if you spot a better price let me know.I still have to educate myself on and select a resonator. I hope the links I am posting will help someone else looking for this kind of stuff.Thanks, JFoster
