How to wire up Y8 IAC to EF (D16A6) EACV harness?
I'm almost done putting a Y8 head and manifold on my D16A6 block into a '89 CRX Si. I can't figure out this last obstacle.
I know that the modules with a two-wire connector on the pass. side back of the manifolds serve the same function, but they have different connectors. They also don't have the same bolt pattern, so I can't just swap the old EACV to the newer manifold (correct me if I'm wrong).
I can cut off the old connector put new female spade connectors into the Honda connector on the Y8 manifold, but how do I tell what wire goes where? I figure it matters . . . I don't want to just guess, do it backwards and smoke the ECU or something.
Thanks in advance!

ok the 2 wires that you need to look for on the CRX harness are BLK/YEL (A17) and BLU/YEL (C2). They should be the same color as the Y8 head.

if i remember right the iacv/eacv from the manual y8 manifold and the a6 manifold both have the same 2 wire plug...
the plug from the a6 harness should plug right into the y8 iacv.
the plug from the a6 harness should plug right into the y8 iacv.
Thnx for your replies wickedB16 and fastcrxsi90, but the connectors are in fact different. Since I don't have the wire that used to plug into the IAC on the Y8 IM, I can't just reference it by color.
I know that all D16A6's are not necessarily exactly the same in terms of wiring connectors - a friend of mine has a '90 Civic Si and we swapped it out for another junkyard D16A6 b/c it was burning tons of oil.
We found that the harness going to the injector resistor box had different shaped connectors, and even had a different # of wires in it. We tried to rig it together but we had a check engine light. After the old wire harness was swapped off the old engine onto the new one, it worked fine then though.

You guys were right - it does plug in. The connector on the Y8 IAC valve seemed to have an adapter on it - once I figured out I could remove that, and that the actual connector was underneath it, the old A6 EACV connector plugged right in.
