JPM to jump ship, in 2005

so its official, JPM is signed with Mclaren, but not til 2005. anyone else think this is odd that a driver can be signed a year ahead, before even the next season starts?

I thought that was really strange also. How much effort is his crew going to give him when they know he is going to McLaren the next year. I have a feeling Ralph is going to have the better car next year.
