Roebling Lap times
I attended the Solo I at Roebling Road this weekend. I thought we would have gotten more track time than what we ended up with. For some reason we only got a practice session, and one timed session the first day. Sunday we got 2 timed sessions. I think there were 60 or so entries. they ran pods of 3 for 5 laps. does that sound about right?
Saturday we were on azenis and I ran a 1:33. Sunday we put on the V700's. I ran a 1:29 all 3 times out my last session.
I guess it was worth $125

I did a 1:30.XXX 2 months ago. Disappointing really. But I still have a monkey on my back in turn one, the site of my only ever off-course encounter with a tire wall.
I just don't think I "get" that track at all....
Matt<---can't wait for the THSCC time trial at VIR-full. I "get" that track...

Tip to "get" Roebling. Crank wheel 40 degrees to the right. Use some rope and tie it there. The left handers can be handled by throttle input.
Bring 6 extra tires for every hour you plan on being on track, and you should be fine.

I thought i was doing pretty well. My first time @ roebling driving the Full course. Dont know your setup but i was driving a 2400 lb Accord.
I would have to say i was playing it safe when i came to turn 1.. braking just between the 4 and 5 marker. Its not my car so you might understand where im coming from.
Thanks for letting me Run Karl

Roebling is still arguably my favorite track in the southeast. So much time spent in the corners is just too much fun.
If we are talking lap times, 1:23.7 in an ITA Miata.

Every time when I think of Roebling and of "other fast cars" this organe thing immediately pops up into my head and always clouds my vision! I haven't seen you at roebling yet when you weren't absolutely flying around there. What do you have with that track man?
Fastest lap times from when we ran there last in '01 was 1:23.5 in qualifying, but never got below 24s in any race. Also seen Brian Quinette in an ita integra run a 23.9 in qualifying. You need to take that little rwd orange car of yours to roebling now with the new motor!

Roebling is likely the most rear drive friendly track in the US.
Doubt me? Well, at Road Atlanta the top ITA CRXen typically beat the top Spec Miatas by about 4 seconds per lap. At Roebling, that gap gets down to about 1 second. Mr. Bowie also has been known to whip out a can of ITA RWD whipass there as well (no wonder he likes it).
Times - Best time there in the old Integra (in DSP form) was a 1:24 sumthin'
Best time in the ITC car was a 1:30.xxx. Need to shave a second or two off that to win a race there. But again, Datsun 510s that I beat pretty handily at Road Atlanta handed me my *** at Roebling <shrugs>.
Scott, who thinks Roebling is hard to figure out. Especially for a 20 lap race where you need to conserve tires in a FWD car.

yup only three sessions
. I dont know how the events are normally run, but I wasn't too impressed with the way this one was put on. How much track time did you get at the CMP solo1?
/and what Shane forgot to mention is that this was his first time on an open track, and that he was still a second faster than me

With Chin Motorsports you get 5 hours of track time at most tracks.

1:20.6 in my 86 GT4 Civic, which is for sale as a roller. To me T5 is the hardest to master and since it's the slowest turn it has the most time to loose. I was timed 3 seconds a lap faster than a guy in a Civic Si but from the entrance to exit of T5 he was about a second faster than me!
Adam Malley has a good story about a test session there with a race prepped Viper, oh it went something like damn, floor it at 110mph and the rear brakes loose and hitting 170s at the end of the straight was fun.

Yea T5 (well 5a and 5b) is awesome. If I had to give 1 bit of advice to someone trying to learn that complex would be to use lift throttle oversteer like its your job.
Ran 1:19.2 in an EP 914. Ran 1:25.0 in my old red Civic. My best advice for going fast at Roebling, there are no correct lines just the fast one and momentum is the key.

Hey! I'm trying to keep that one under my hat!
Ok, so the CAR does 1:25's, even if I can't...

I ran mid to high 1:30's in a Mitsubishi Galant rental car w/ automatic tranny
the body roll in T1 was heinous... come to think of it the body roll was bad on every turn
oh forgot to mention that this was on a set of 15x6" rims and 205/50 Victo's off of my R

I seem to remember the fastest laps being in the 1:27 to 1:28 range... stock car except for Koni's, Carbotech P+'s front and rear, and 205/50 Azenis on stock rims.
Not too bad... I guess
FWIW, my times were almost exactly the same as my friend's suspension upgraded Mustang GT running Victo's.

Well I am seriously starting to doubt my times now because I rode with you and you felt quite a bit faster than I was running. I remember very distinctly braking later than hell going into T1
Blake Fuller's dad was manning the stopwatch and clocked me for a few laps but maybe I am just messing the numbers up.
What was your friends name again with the Stang? Jeff? He was a nice guy.

Sounds like your times were a tad off after reading a Type R and an S2000 were doing similiar lap times to your SI. I mean, I know you are a good driver and all...

Nah, just because its a S2k or ITR dosent really mean too much. Ive worked many-an-old man on the track sporting E46's, Boxters, S2K's...
But Xian is a better driver than I am by a long shot so that is why I question myself.
