If anyone has the resources, please post a picture map needed to wire up vtec for a 94 b18c1 to go swapped into 92 cx hatch. Please post any information regarding this wiring - detailled steps of how to do this physically, tools necessary, any other hints. Also, would the lack of vtec cause a code that would set off the check engine light?

You're going to need to do a few things since it's going into a car not ready with VTEC. You're going to need to switch over to the 4-wire o2 sensor, wire up the VTEC, knock sensor, and wire up the IAB. I took the route of switching to skunk2 intake manifold so that I didn't have to worry about the IAB .

You can run it directly to the ECU in the pin location directed and just ground the black wire by thermostat housing ground also. Shouldn't be hard to locate. Hardest part would just be pinning it to the ECU. This should help you locating where to pin it on the ecu. Just find a place to run it through the firewall and you'll be golden. Also wire up the knock sensor while you're at it. Only thing I had to do on my swap was wire up the knock sensor and it wasn't any trouble. Hope it helps.

 

MAP sensor for B18C1??

You shouldn't have to do any MAP sensor wiring at all. And yes, the MAP sensor code will cause your car to go into limp mode.

 

Thanks for the reply. I have already installed the GSR o2 sensor using a bung, near where the sensor hooks in. Its all hooked up. Unfortunately I'm in Va. at school and my car is in NJ so I'm just compiling resources.

One wire from the ECU to the o2 sensor, is that it?

When you did your swap what did you do as far as exhaust. I'd prefer to stay with the stock header for now, I've heard that it performs quite well, but there is only a 2" or so gap between where the catback hooks up to the car to the end of the exhaust manifold. No room for a catalytic converter. I guess I could build a flanged piece to fill the gap and run the Greddy Catback that I already purchased, but I have a feeling its going to be loud as hell. The car is a 92 Cx hatch and its really loud as is (I'm running stock cx pipes and a regular cat until i figure this out).

Is there a way to avoid cutting up the piece of the catback unit that would attach to the cat converter in some way, or would you suggest just running a cat and building a piece of pipe that runs down to the next section?

Oh yea, IAB is shorthand for what?

 

IAB = Intake Air Bypass also referred to as "secondaries" or "secondary butterflies"

When people say that "you need to wire up the IAB" on a GSR swap, they are referring to the sensor part. It's located under the intake manifold and has a regular 2 prong sensor (same type used on the IAT, coolant temp, etc.). The sensor plug faces the driver's side and is connected to a vacuum canister which applies vacuum to a diaphragm at a certain RPM and the secondaries open up.
