Default My ls/vtec setup or buy a gsr motor?

Based on horsepower and dollar figures and with reliability and drivability factoring in which would you buy/build? The motor will be going into a 91 std hatch

don't get me wrong I love the power of LS/VTEC but there not reliable or honda would have came out with them in the first place. I just would rather build up a B18C and b16 head (Frankenstein Poor mans type R....LOL) and have fun with that. If I was to build a LSVTEC then I would use it for drag only

Ok ive priced it and im pretty sure the gsr is the way to go for me. (already had ls block but now im selling it) Does the type R justify the extra 1500 bux from the gsr swap?

type R has 20 extra horses and about 800 rpms more and LSD and 80 pounds lighter .. coating on piston skirts and TI ratainers with dual valve springs and bigger cams...and ported head with portmatched intake manifold.. and maybe the 98 spec JDM 4-1 headders...try to get all that with 1500.. good for the all motor folks

GSR has 180 hp *option LSD* dual valvesprings on the intakevalves only.. and square cumbution chamber =.3 compression more

So youre saying yes the type r does justify the extra 1500? osakajdmmotors.com has the gsr swap for 2700 hundred and the type r for 4200. Im thinking of just buying the type r When compared to a gsr the 1500 doesnt seem like that much more.

lol...good point.

an ls/vtec, like any motor, will only last as long as you take care of it.

i forgot.. it was going in a hatch.. the tranny is useless to you unless you put a hydrolic clutch system...but you can sell that for 1300 alone..and get a SIR with lsd for 700 or so..but htey have weaker differentials.. for some odd reason..i see more b16 tranny diff break then LS GSR OR TYPE R might be just co-incidence

well if the rad. is taken care of then you better bring it back. As far as the mugen knockoff goes get over it theres no way your finding a genuine mugen front these days oh wait just cause mugen doesnt make doesnt mean its not exactly the same.
and as far as the ls motor goes i dont need an ls with a spun rod bearing.

Read up on who you buy from before you buy, don't take the company's word for it that they offer motors in great condition, get some feedback from different customers before you make any kind of decision as to where you will buy. I believe I speak for all of Honda-Tech.com when I say that Osaka is just a bit too shady (understatement of the century).

Ill be over later today headin to brads to watch some tray sliding video from last night Knockoff real thing either way it doesnt really matter how many people actually still buy spoon wheels when rotas look the same and are a quarter of the price.

Ive been reading on motor companies and i wont buy until i call them and ask about a million questions.
