Well, it all depends on what you plan on doing with your car. Do you road race it?? is it just a daily driver??

If you race it....the Legend caliper upgrade might be a good idea. I track my car and I did the Legend caliper upgrade. I also use the Axxis Ultimate brake pads. Performed VERY nicely this past weekend.

If you only use your car on the streets...just a nice set of brake pads should be good enough.

The rears are not necessary to upgrade. The rears only take about 20% of the stopping power.

i knew they only took like 20 to 30% of the force but was curious none the less, its going to be a street car for awhile, but i want to start auto-x it this spring, just sounds like a cheap and worthwile upgrade, thanks for the reply

Well, if you are going to just autoX it....you don't need the caliper upgrade then. Unless your calipers are bad they should be fine.

I have a 1992 4WS too.

I track my 5th gen about once a month, and have found the stock setup to be quite good with just more agressive pads (cobalt spec vr's), better fluid (ate superblu) and, most importantly, a better set of tires (in my case, azenis). If I were considering upgrading calipers, I'd look into a lighter set , not neccesarily Spoon, but something lighter and multipiston would be nice. Ps: I use autozone rotors, yay!

regarding the brakes issue, is it worth for me to upgrade my front rotors to drilled or slotted or something close to that, knowing i don't race my ****, but well, sometimes...it is auto.

Pads, rotors, what do you guys recommend for a slow sportshit lude?

thx.

Nope. The slotted/drilled rotors aren't needed, nor neccessary. Your pad choice is determined by your needs; how do you intend to use the car, and do you mind a lot of brake dust, pads squel etc?

well, i hate the dust crap, i clean the wheels and they are back again (dirty as ****, that is a given), but i can't stand pads squel, and i don't race my car, there is too many cops around my area and i don't drive that far...so, as long as they do a GREAT job, i am ok.

So, suggestions?

thx.

I think you'd be very happy with FRONT (as the ITR shares the same pads shape as 5th gen prelude) integra type R pads (which is what I use as my daily pad). Low noise, low dust, decent torque and available everywhere. Fro something a bit more aggressive you could try the Cobalt street compound (spec B), since the cobalt brakes seem to make less noise and dust v. their competitors pads. HTH's.

trackign the autozone rotors eh? they're not getting chewed up at all?

or are you tracking brembos and DD'ing the AZO rotors?

anyway, my brakes were pretty disappointing @ SOWS this last time out...i think it's time to call cobalt and get some GT sports for auto-x/track use...

last question: has the ATE boiled on you? i was reading some poor ITR guy's saga with fade and apparently he was cooking all of the ATE fluids he was trying to run...

Im in the middle of doing a NSX setup on my 98. I got the full set, but im only gong to do the fronts for now. Ledgend brakes will be a lot cheaper, theyre the same size though.

Qustion: Does anyone know the deepest offset that can be run with these brakes on the prelude?

actually the legend pistons are larger by a few mm on each piston. But the genuine NSX calipers are made of a lightweight metal to reduce the unsprung weight. So it's a trade off. I chose Legend.

I daily drive and track on the autozone rotors. The 1st set of front has lasted me 6 months, and about 8 events (including laguna seca -- regarded to be hard on brakes). I'm now on my 2nd set, and feel fine about it. I've been on oem honda fluid this whole time, but just began to cook it at the last event (the spec VR's generate a lot of heat) and so it's onto a new fluid choice , ATE. (I'm getting ATE b/c it's relativly cheap, and I can buy it at the porsche place down the street). I also believe that part of my mushy pedal at the last event is due to my M/C , which is now 123,ooo miles old, and that will be getting replaced as well. (I already have SS brake lines).
Regards.
