Default California smog and motor swap (regarding year of motor)

In California we have some of the strictest smog laws around, needless to say it kinda puts a crimp in what we can do with our cars. Now here is my question. Right now my daily driver is an 00 ex coupe, I know that according to cali law, we can swap with a different motor, as long as it is the same OBD and the year of the car or newer. I want to put in an ls with a fresh rebuild on it. The only catch is tha the motor is not 00 or newer, its a 95.
So I am thinking that if i convert everything to OBD2, it whould work. Unless the actually check the year of the motor. Now i will have the correct obd2 ecu for the ls motor and cosmetically make it look as much like an OBD2 motor as I can, intake manifold etc. I have a 94 ls motor in my crx and got it bar certified, they did not check the year of the motor other than asking me what year it was, then from what I told them they checked for all the right smog equipment. It passed with no other issues. SO what do you guys think?
Thanks for any and all input.

I don't think it would be worth the hassle Rob. There's always the chance you could get caught then it was a waste of time. That's just me though.

By the way... Ali Al Salem sucks.

if the ref guy didnt check the year the first time just hope that he still works at the ref station and wont check again. if he does check then, i dunno, your screwed. but the ref and smog guys are i know are kinda lazy so i think u will be ok. but i aint guaranteeing u anything!!!
