Default stainless/braided fuel line - fitting request

I am about to start heavily modding my car again and I thought about this simple mod. But I know nothing about AN fittings and such. Nor do I know the correct sizes needed to complete the mod.

I searched and some people do it different ways. However no thread really specified all the exact parts needed to do the mod.

So does anyone know what size AN fittings I need and stuff like that? If it makes a difference I'm going to mate it up with the Golden Eagle fuel rail.

ok, i'll help as best i can since i am soon to be doing the same thing...I did this on my last honda (2000 turbo Civic Si) and will do it on my new teg also down the road. Ok, as for parts, you don't need much, if you are going direct into the golden eagle fuel rail inlet port, you need 1 banjo fitting (the circular fitting at top of the fuel filter...braided line of the AN size you choose...and one fitting that will thread into the rail. Your best bet is to take out the fuel line from filter to rail and bring the rail with you to a local hose supply shop (call around to find one that deals with braided auto lines) or to a local muscle car/hot rod speed shop...the guys at either place should be able to help you out no problem with finding the right fittings etc, some will even make the line for you. I wish i could help more but i don't have any part numbers since i just went to a local hose supply place when i did mine and that was 3 years ago so i have since forgotten all the needed specs when it comes to sizes and such (i even lost the hose places number DOH). i hope i was of a little help at least, i'm sure someone on here can help more with some earls, or aeroquip part numbers (both of which are big names in braided lines).

The GE fuel rail has a -8AN port and optional fittings to use anything from -6AN to -10AN, but the port size is still only -8AN.

I can piece you out something using Aeroquip, Goodridge, and/or Earl's fittings. Just give me 'til later on tonight to give you all the part numbers.

Do you wanna keep the pulsation dampener? What size injectors are you planning on using.

The pulsation dampener is the little nub/nut on the end of the feed-side of the fuel rail. It helps to dampen the pulsations caused by the closing of the injectors. The bigger the injectors, the bigger the pulsation.

Larger fuel rails also help to dampen the pulsation.

The GE fuel rail, I think, is a 9/16" ID bore. It's 1/16" bigger than the AEM fuel rail.

With 310cc's, you can forego the pulsation dampener and banjo fitting. Just use a -6 or -8AN to 1/2" or 9/16" (whichever one the GE port is) o-ring port adapter.

Edit: Oops...I'm logged in at the garage under John's SN.

Ben: much apreciated. I think I have it now. I'm goning to place this thread in my nootbook for reference.

I knew that nut at the end of the fuel rail was for something, but not sure what it was called or what it did. THanks for clearing it up.

I was looking into doing the exact same mod, but also didn't find anything really helpful inthe archives.

If you want to use a B&M FPGauge at the top of the fuel filter, will the banjo bolt accept it? and what size is needed to run the line to a stock fuel rail?

and most importantly, PICS!

@ the Fuel Filter:
Goodridge -6AN Banjo = 776-06-M12 [decodes to item type-outlet size in AN-banjo ID]
----------------------------
Hose:
Aeroquip 3ft -6AN AQP Braided Hose = FCA0603
----------------------------
Fittings/Hose-ends:
It really depends on whether you need to go over or under the intake pipe.

Those with stock GS-R manifolds will go over. Those with Skunk2 manifolds, LS, or ITR manifolds will go under the intake pipe.

It might vary some from application to application b/c some people have turbo's and BOV's sometimes get in the way, so it might be best to go under when you would have gone over.
--------
If you want to keep the pulsation dampener:
The hose-end at the fuel rail side of the braided hose will also differ depending on whether you continue to use the pulsation dampener or not. If you do, then you'll need another Goodridge -6AN, M12 ID banjo (listed above) and an Aeroquip 90 degree Hose-end (FCM4032).
--------
If you don't want to keep the pulsation dampener and are going under the intake pipe, this is combo you probably want.
Aeroquip -6AN 90 degree Hose-end = FCM4032
-Right off the banjo at the fuel filter

Aeroquip -6AN 45 degree Hose-end = FCM4022 or a straight hose-end might fit better (FCM1012)
-Fuel rail end.
--------
If you don't want to keep the pulsation dampener and want to go over the intake pipe, this is probably the combo you need:
Aeroquip -6AN 45 degree Hose-end = FCM4022
-Right off the banjo at the fuel filter

Aeroquip -6AN Straight Hose-end = FCM1012

.................................................. ............
You might not necessarily use the fitting types and bends I listed. I've never mocked it up for my any Integra's before, so I'm just picturing what I think I would use for an Integra.

You don't have to use the brands I like to use. Earl's, Summit, XRP, Russell, Goodridge, and Summit all make pretty much the same stuff. I just find that Goodridge has the largest variety of banjo's, so I get them from our local Goodridge distribution center.

Whatever you do, give the fuel line enough slack for the engine to rock back and forth. If you don't, the engine is liable to rip the fuel filter off the firewall or worse and start a fuel fire.

Also, braided steel line is kinda pissy to work with if you don't have a good cutting tool and a clamp to assemble the hose-ends onto the hose. If you choose, Stan (flamenco-t) can pre-assemble a line for you for a price. He can probably mock up the lengths and bends to whatever application you need.

I have all the stuff to do the assembly, but I don't have the capital to buy parts to assemble a kit. I have -4AN and -10AN line and fittings, just no -6AN.
