Default Clutch fork or transmission fork?

there are 2 different forks in the transmission? for some reason yesterday in traffic..........i lost all my gears in my tranny. the complete shift pattern is gone and i can spin the shifter in any circular direction where the gears used to be. i checked all the connections for the shift linkage and they are all still intact including the pin that connects to the tranny. A friend said there's 2 forks in the tranny and the only fork i know of is the clutch fork to hold the throwout bearing. can anyone help? its a 00' type R tranny and hope its not the end of the tranny.

I beleive you have to ull out one of the shafts though to replace it.

Its been a while since I was in my tranny so my memory isnt all the great.

anyone know where i can find a diagram or pic of what ill be looking at when i open it up? never got into the internals of a tranny before besides the usual clutch swaps...

How often do these things pop off? is it something i should replace or something i can just pop back on? I was in bumper to bumper traffic when this happened...so is this a common problem? car also has a stage 3 ACT clutch in it too.

id say it happens more often if you're a hard shifter, bangin gears... but it's not something that is common.

yeah man, im the friend that dunkd is talking about. i know exactly what u did. its a little mechanism that engages the gears. trust me, once u get the tranny apart, its a 5 minute remove and replace job. you broke one side off of the fork, and it is probably sitting in the bottom of the tranny somewhere. dont worry, your tranny itself is fine, just crack her open and fix it, its on the bottom if that helps, ill try to get some pics of my broken peice up so you can see what it looks like. cody, wanna break out the digi and head to steves basement tonight?? and btw dude, your problem is EXACTLY the same as mine, so im positive that this is whats wrong.

Thanks Brett...hopefully you can grab me some pics of what i'll be looking at. Any idea on how much on parts? a local shop was trying to tell me its a pain in the *** to open up the tranny and they would charge me 800 - 1000 to fix it.
