Default Really dumb question about gasket sealant?

What is the name of the stuff used to seal up the gaskets on the valve cover and oil pan?

Screw Hondabond, it's WAY too expensive.

get Permatex Ultra-Grey RTV Sealant from your nearest Autozone/Advanced/Napa....it's a few bucks and it's the exact same as Hondabond.

hondabond and permatex grey are not the same thing.hondabond is way better quality....
for important things like oil pump and rear main gasket cover is better to use hondabond. for little things like valve cover gasket and chit permatex is fine.
got to love the smell of hondabond.

lol, well I will see on how much hondabond is and how much permatex is... but I will most likely go with hondabond, because I like to use OEM accs. on my motors... thank you.

It is too bad that they don't use hondabond at the dealerships...they don't in the area I am from and that includes both the acura and honda dealerships!
They use the grey!
