This is concerning a 91 Integra LS. Is the "Power Steering Speed Sensor" also known as the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)? Because apparently that is what the Helms calls my mechanical speed sensor.
No where in the Helms (aside from this picture) does it mention anything about this sensor. Such as how to install, inspect etc.
My Speedo doesnt work. CEL 17, which = VSS in the helms but no where else is it called VSS. Im pretty sure its this Power steering speed sensor thing because its loose. But I stick it in and it jumps out of the transmission port. The picture in the helms shows a screw holder but mine doesnt have that. It just has a rubber jacket around this mechanical sensor.
Does anyone know what Im talking about? How is this thing designed to stay put?

I have the rubber boot/jacket around the cable itself but it has no screw holes thats the whole problem. I push the cable down firmly into the tranny port and it just pops out 15 feet down the road.

NO, they are different.

those things are tricky sometimes... it will feel like its in, but it isnt actually all the way in.
Try playing with it for a bit
It looks kinda like a key, and you have to get it to go into the "lock" all the way. There is a metal retaining clip that is supposed to hold it down that goes under the rubber boot. On the VVS sensor, the metal part that sticks out, you will notice that there are 2 small slits on each side for that clip.
If you lost it, pick one up off a junk tranny or a junk yard, all 88-91 civic and 90-93 integras will work just dandy.
If you do have it, just make sure that your actually sticking the vvs speedo cable all the way in.... sometimes it feels like its in but its not, twist the cable a bit and keep sticking it in there and when it goes in correctly, you will know.

OK well if they are different than I am barking up the wrong tree. I have this mechanical linkage that is loose, the helms calls it the power steering speed sensor. I dont see a VSS anywhere in the transmission section of the helms.
irev210 - Thx for the tips I will try that to secure the linkage to the transmisions.

a VSS is the little sensor that goes right above your axle. its screwed to your knuckle.its behind the rotor. that little sensor reads the teeth which are on your axle. thats the VSS
