Default If i end up with the Subaru WRX how reliable will it by ie: hondas to subarus

hey wsup guys i posted earlier that i have opted to try and get a WRX as opposed to a 4 door gsr my one otehr questions is how reliable will the WRX be? i have never really heard anything bad about Subaru lol but when i mentioned getting one to my parents they laughed at me as if i was going to get a fuckign KIA!!!! being that they think subaru and kia and deawoo all belong in the same damn category. im still gonna go for the WRX but in comparison to a honda/acura how does the reliable is it???

i think subaru is really making their way up these days. They really hold their name by making quality vehicles IMO.

the wrx just got to the states... give it a while before you start making assumptions. it just appears to me that if anything brakes, eveything else will. it does look really tight under that hood... but we'll see after a while.

I have heard of a blown motor and a blown tranny allready, but how many WRXs are out there???

My friend has one without any problems yet. Not sure how many miles on it, but he is auto-xing it now and still no problems....yet.

I think the car would be fine for a while, but don't expect it to go to 150k miles...

It will be fine.

The trannys were known to not hold up well to turbo on the 2.5RS, but it also didnt come turbo from the factory.
I wouldnt think the rex wont last 150k miles...maintain it properly and treat it well and there is no reason it shouldnt.

Check out http://www.i-club.com if you havent already...theres enough info there for all your q's.

my friend just took his 2.5RS into the shop to get the tranny fixed for the 2nd time. this time was his 5th gear something or other, i think it was his syncro. its under warranty but hey, bad tranny!

I heard of tranny issues also.

Kinda funny, one guy on the wrx board said "don`t worry about it, I can get you an sti tranny for 4k" and I almost **** my pants hahha. I just bought a tranny for my EF..200 bucks! I love Honda

on the new WRX there have been a lot of problems with weak/ bad brake rotors that have grooves and warp. The pads also have been wearing down well under 10k miles...i'm gonna wait a few years to get a WRX and wait for more aftermarket stuff to come over to the states.

not really sure but if it holds up to those grueling rally events then i don't see why it shouldn't be reliable in the streets in the long run

Go to the WRX forum and do a search as well as ask memebers on the board what they think of the WRX and problems they've faced.

http://www.i-club.com/

I did that once but I forgot what problems they mentioned. Good luck! If I hadn't bought a house, I'd have a WRX myself.
