If you roll your car, and don't have a cage, the harness will hold you in place and not let you lean to the side, the roof will cave in on your head.

Why? A harness is not safe w/out a rollbar or cage. Will the harness look cool?

if you are using the racing harness and you flip your car over, you cannot move out of the way when the roof collapses on your head. This means you die, you don't need a racing harness for the street and looking all the fast and the furious isn't worth possibly dying. Doesn't a harness have to be installed a specific way to work correctly too?

yes it does...but if you flip your car on the street one of two things happens.
either the roof doesn't collapse into your head, because it is designed, tested and regulated not to. Or it does...at which point you have thousands of pounds of steel hitting you in the head. If that doesn't kill you or leave you a vegetable then yeah...maybe you can lean down to the middle and escape unscathed.
I don't advocate racing harness usage on the street...but you do know that the NHTSA tests all new vehicles to make sure they can withstand much more than their own weight when rolled over.
I bet someone will post a picture of a rolled car now...ready...set....

also, dont think thowing a cage in a street car will make things peachy....unless you daily drive with a helmet on.

if i remember correctly unless your shorter than maybe 5 foot 6, then your shoulder height is higher than the backing of the del sol seat, in which case if you had a harness and were in a high speed accident the harness would likely collapse your back... do consider all of this when buying a harness for a seat thats not meant for one and without a roll-bar!

It's not a matter of being all ninja and moving out of the way in time...

It's a matter of that's the path your body is going to take when the roof collapses in like the above pic...

If you have racing harness' you'd be pinned and it would probobly rip off your head instead of just gashing it open like the above pic...

And I don't care what kind of car you have if you flip over at ANY kind of speed and hit it right you're going to collapse the **** out of your roof... it may be able to take the weight but ad 10-15mph to that weight and all of a sudden it's like soft butter...

The WHOLE frame/body of a unibody car is basically liquified for a fraction of a second in a 30mph FRONT END collision... that's the WHOLE FRAME that's absorbing the weight of your car times 30mph... Imagine the same force if not more going into JUST the roof... or just ONE CORNER of the roof...

I work in a warehouse FULL of wrecked cars... roofs don't hold for **** even in a slow roll over.

Racing harness WILL pin you in and probobly cause a otherwise survivable accident to be fatal...

Oh and harness' are GAY... I'd hate having to install them on a car if it were required by whatever racing class...

They're a safety feature... not an accessory.

If it's the extra padding and comfort you want just get a seat belt pad deallie.

Unless you have a roolbar/cage a harness is going to hurt you in an accidnet bottom line.
