Default OMFG Im bout to kill myself...

I was messin around today and missed a shift from 2nd to 3rd... it went half way into fith and I dropped the clutch... grind grind... now it wont go into reverse... and the shifters action feels really shitty instead of smooth... did i **** my whole transmission or do I just need to have the shift cables re-adjusted... If I did destroy my tranny... what should I do... get the same one or go with euro-R or what... I saw a kit (anyone remember who this is that makes these... hes on this forum...?) that made H-series engines B-series tranny compatible... should I try that?... HELP...ty

wow ur seriously contemplating suicide over a few syncros? i'm in the same situation as you. My clutch got fuxed on a 700 mile trip. Had to get it fixed down there and now the syncros are messed up. I owe my parents 3k already for the car and I have a credit card to pay off.

My suggestion to you is buy yourself some time by picking up 3 quarts of gm syncromesh. It helped eliminate almost all the grinding in my 2nd and 3rd gears. By the time the syncros go out you should be able to buy a new tranny or replace the syncros

suicide is just stupid, even if you are just kidding about it.

Just my $.02

Hope you find an answer to this man, reverse doesn't feel like going in on mine either. Say if the GM Syncromesh does not work, how much is it to fix the syncros? What would be the process for that?

all the gears are fine... it just wont go into reverse... are there any 6-spd trannys that could possibly go on my H22, because I would Kill to get a 6th gear in my Lude... Im thinkin about going JRSC... what type of tranny would be good there...?

You and every other prelude owner. as far as i'm concerned it is the one and only bad thing about the car given the performance vs cost in other areas

there is none avail. i even spoke with a few companies about building one for me but i cant talk anyone into it.

sounds like if not the synchros, a bent shift fork

I thought there werent any syncros in reverse. So if it just won't go into reverse then it probably isnt the tranny.

have you tried manually putting the tranny into reverse using the shifter ***** located on the tranny?

im getting it looked at today... anyways i think its the shifter fork or the cables got messed up somehow... bcz it still works fine in gears 1-5... just will not shift into reverse for anything and the shifer action is all shitty and not smooth anymore... so anyways... euro-r tranny if i need a new one... where can i get one new or close to new?

Has anyone worked inside of a H-series tranny before?

I saw a write-up here in the Civic or Integra forum about a guy that replaced his mainshaft after a clutch stripped off the threads.....doesn't look that bad, considering how scarey they have been to work on.

If it's not that bad, then I may just replace my syncros while my tranny's out!

EDIT>>> I just took my car out driving... my syncros are fine and the transmission works great in all forward gears... there is something wrong with the shifter... Are there ANY short shift assemblies for 5th gens???

Also:

Is the m2b4 our stock H22 tranny? Can you put an LSD on the euro-r tranny (sorry I know nothing about transmissions)... Which LSD is better: Quiaffe or JDM? And where can I find a good deal on this stuff???

Tranny's are a nightmare, I spent nearly 2 weeks rebuilding mine after I made those gears, cussing and crying all the way, definatly not for the inpatient. The helms doesn't really help either, other than showing the order of all the bearings etc on the shafts..........

well I know on whatever thread that guy posted, he said it was basically a piece of cake; it all slid right on and off, and it was just making sure it was all put together in the right order!

no synchros in reverse. sounds like a bent shift fork to me. and if youve never taken a tranny apart and put one back together, i dont suggest you do it. ive done it several times with my boss and i still have to ask questions cause there are soo many rings and minor crap that have to go in specific orders and you have to assemble everything a certain way or it will not go together. take it to someone who knows what they are doing. it wont be cheap and i suggest you fix EVERY little worn or broken part on the tranny so you dont have to do it again 3 months down the line.

and as far as buying a new tranny, unless you plan on upgrading to the euro tranny or any other factory lsd equipped tranny, i suggest you rebuild yours. buying another tranny off of someone else will cost you a pretty penny and you may end up in the same boat. you have no guaruntee that the person before you didnt rag the **** out of that tranny.

I'll play with anything on a Prelude except the tranny... and that's saying something.

Oh, and if you want a six speed, just contact Quaife. I'm sure they'll make you one for around $12,000- $15,000. At least that's what it was the last time I checked. It'll even be airshift.

The only problem is, hits these days go for $5000... you'd have to kill three people, not just one.

LOL Todd

Anyways, I did this to my euro-r one day..I slammed into third the wrong way and yup...no reverse.

I just spent a lot of time with it, took about a week of working with it trying to get it in, messing with the clutch pedal on/off going from other gears and stuff. It's fine now. You should be able to get it back if you spend a lot of time on it.
