Outrageous pricing…
Recently totalled the gsr, and I was looking to type r in the near future. After looking around at a couple dealerships (aka stealerships), here are the going prices for there ARRs:
2000 R w/ 20k miles: 25,000
2001 R w/ 45k miles: 24,000
2000 R w/ 35k miles: 24,000
Are all dealerships that bad? I was only looking to spend around 21-22...maybe even less if i could (guess ill have to go the private seller route). TIA.

Thats awesome. Private sellers need to start selling for more too...
Makes me feel bad I put so many miles on mine
I cant wait until they start selling for more than they did new. Thats going to be cool.

Yes, they are all that bad.. and are getting worse..
buy from a private seller. You'll get a much better history of the car and for a lot lower price.

Those may simply be asking prices, which may be unrealistic and fall under the category of "wishful thinking". Did you try negotiating with them, and offering them a lower (more realistic) price?

Actually, those high dealership prices bode well for present ITR owners.
After all, there are fewer and fewer of them out there ....

hehe, yeah, I wouldn't mind if the ITR resale prices went up a bit.

my stealership just sold an 01 R with 35k miles for 24000. I was asking the salesman who sold it details on it. Their price on the window was 24k and they were not willing to go down. Then i asked him who bought, you know we gotta meet all the local R owners. He told me, the guy wasn't from around here. So i just ok. I then asked him the number of the car. He was like what number. I said the car's number, from the armrest. He had no clue what it was. I got some dumb@ss salesman working at my acura dealership.
It's pretty easy for those of you who currently own an ITR to say that the dealership's price gouging is a good thing. It sucks for those of us in the market to buy.

Would you rather the car you're going to buy decrease in value every year, or increase? I would rather pay more up front if it increased in value every year. No one says it will, but it could.

I was browsing cars.com for a Miata, and I thought I'd check out the Acura scene too.
There were two R's listed at over $25,000. One had over 35K miles.
The cheapest listed was either a 97 or a 98 for $16500.

Well, hindsight is always 20/20. If I was in the financial position to purchase an ITR in say 97 or 98 and had any clue of the value it'd hold down the road then I'd in no doubt have no problems with paying a little extra. And I'd never buy an ITR from a dealership anyways. I agree with everyone stating that there's good deals out there. People really need to be willing to travel a bit. I know I am. I just wanted to point out that it's always better to be on the SUPPLY side of the economic equation.

I'm talking in the future. I would rather pay a premium today for a used 5 year old car that I could sell 3 years from now for the same price or more. Obviously noone knows what the price will do 3 years from now. It could plumit, it could increase..

Don't mean to sound negative, all doom gloom & despare but,...After a friend of mine who use to work @ a local car dealership, it was truly amazing how he explained in detail of how when you go to a dealer & you really think your getting a KILLER DEAL,... guess what! You can get your wallet really burned if you no nothing of how they are experts of juggling numbers & making you think your DOWN PAYMENT is doing you so much to save you $$. It's a crying shame if you don't know whats going on when you go to a car new or used, get someone you trust to either go with you or tell you the best route to take. Private seller is always better. Just my opinion!
