Default Engine oil still dirty after change...

I changed my oil and filter the other day. When I got done I checked the oil and it was all nice and clean. Let the car run for 5 minutes, check it again, the oil was super dirty already. Why did this happen?

Thanks

What kind of car? How many miles? How was it treated in the past? What kind of oil?

I'm just guessing that you've loosened up some crud that's now suspended in the oil. You might want to change the oil a couple times, maybe 50 miles in between, to clean out that dirt.

Maybe one of those flush additives? They're runny like kerosene, you add to the oil & idle 10 minutes then drain the oil. But I'm not sure how good or safe those really are.

It is a 90 Civic hath with a D15B1. It has close to 150,000 miles on it too. It is my daily driver so it gets driven all the time and mostly stop and go and short trips.

Is this the first time it's gotten dirty so quick? Or just the first time you noticed?

I've heard the first time you use synthetic it does that. The detergency is better so it picks up sludge that's been sitting in the engine for a while. Maybe it could be something like that even if you didn't change oils?

I guess I'd change the oil again at short miles. Keep checking your oil often to watch for it getting dirty. Then don't be afraid to change it early a couple more times if it keeps getting dirty.

The first time I have noticed. I did not change the oil type or anything either. I have been using Quaker State high mileage oil.
